Obama To Exclude U.S. Companies From $300 Million Palestinian Project

The Obama Administration today revealed it is embarking upon a $300 million Palestinian construction project; U.S. companies, however, need not apply. Indeed, the stated goal of this U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) project is to award program contracts solely to West Bank and Gaza-area vendors, according to presolicitation notice released today. The Local Construction Program, or LCP, as it is known, will seek out non-governmental entities to carry out a variety of initiatives involving “local construction or rehabilitation of roads, buildings, water, wastewater, public buildings including health facilities, schools, and other infrastructure.” Delivered by The Daily Sheeple Contributed by Steve Peacock of Steve Peacock’s U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor. This sickens me.
You people are deluded – $300m is not even pocket change and the $300m is to try an invigorate the local economy. Why don’t you complain about the Trillions of US taxpayer monies given to the thriving banks. I mean Trillions, not Billions or Hundreds of millions, but Trillions.

If and maybe when Israel whacks Iran, all of this will be forgotten as Gaza and the West bank are wiped out along with Iran. I mean seriously, why whack an enemy far away and allow two enemies to remain on your lawn.

I don’t see what the issue is here. At least the US govt. isn’t using the aid money as a way to feather the nests of its US-based cronies, at least not as far as can be seen. It does however remain to be see *who* does get the contracts. Maybe Israel-based companies or their cronies?
We do not exclude foreign contractors from our local projects. Probably give them priority over american contractors. Not like anyone would want this any way. Remember all the money lost in lebanon yeard ago on hotels,spas and tourist developement when hasbeenlost invaded.
Exactly why is this a bad thing? If we had need of ‘foreign aide’ then wouldn’t WE want to do our OWN work here, with OUR people?

I sais IF we need it, not that we’ve received it. I was making a point at the heart of the issue, which is, why is it wrong for THEIR people to do the work? Why is that wrong? Why would it be right for us to go to THEIR country and take their work? What? Just because we gave the aide, therefore it’s our right to take their work too? Sheesh, give me a break!
The article merely presents the facts of the situation. It is a USAID plan to award $300 million in contracts, and unlike most USAID projects,non-local (Palestinian) contractors are not allowed to get involved. That aside, as some of the more discerning readers here have noticed, this is yet another $300 million to burden current and future U.S. taxpayers. There are countless US government projects — ranging from $15,000 to $15 billion — that weigh heavy on the shoulders of a citizenry taxed to death and struggling to survive. The hostile reactions to this article — of which I am author — sound like the rants of juvenile liberals who recently came aboard the liberal bandwagon or contractors hired to cast doubt on reports that appear contrary to the execution of US foreign policy objectives.
Well hey there genius reporter… IF you were to have done your job correctly, you would have put THAT info in your story!!! That is YOUR job! But instead, you “led” your readers toward YOUR ideology. Good job of doing EXACTLY what you described as what a juvenile liberal would do. CONGRATS!!!
If I had included that in the article, as you suggest, it would be an editorial, not a news article. There are classes you can take to learn more about such things. The article, I repeat, present the facts. Nothing more. Feel free to [attempt to] correct me if I’m wrong.

All reporters — as they are human — have opinions on matters, particularly important matters such as government largesse. Again, if you see any bias IN THE ARTICLE whatsoever, I’ll give you a second chance to respond.
