People laughed at Randy Wagner of Rosharon, Texas when he put up a 400-foot, 30″ tall Aqua Dam around his house just in time before record-breaking rains came through.

“I was the crazy guy. Everybody was kinda going by, laughing at me…”

Wagner randomly took a chance, spending $8,300 on what basically amounts to a big piece of plastic. His neighbors probably thought there was no way that tube was going to do much of anything accept put Wagner out thousands while he watched his house flood anyway, adding insult to injury.

Wagner had faith in it, though. While military were busy assisting his neighbors with a mandatory evacuation ahead of heavy rains, Wagner put up his dam and he and his family stayed put and waited.

The water rose 27″, completely surrounding his home.

His neighbors may have laughed at him before… but only his house was saved.

People always laugh at preppers, but it never hurts to be prepared.

Does no one bother to edit for proper grammar and spelling on this site?

Me nott noe nuthin bout dat stuf..

Well, a huge wall worked for the Dutch when they did the IJsselmeer Project, and that took them like 70 yr to finish. The Zuider Zee was walled off, flushed out by the Rhine, and slowly reclaimed by huge polders…

New Orleans has had that kind of flood protection for over a hundred years. When you live where high water is a real and forseeable problem dams make sense. The flooding from Katrina happened because the levee system failed in a couple of places due to years of neglect by politicians who stole the money that was supposed to be used for levee maintenance, not because of design defects.

Prepping is always a big joke to people UNTIL the “S” actually does “HTF”.

    The Chosen One.

  • Should this guy have the right to save his family’s property while his neighbors suffer? How can the New World Order collectivist agenda be implemented if individuals are allowed to do crazy stuff like this?

    • Kathy Irwin

It was not a crazy act, as he had lots of land @ him. My home was also badly flooded. We could not do what he did but have since discovered technologies in the UK and the Netherlands that USA Gov should be schooling us on. We helped out our neighbors and they helped us, even as we were all devastated. The two are not mutually exclusive.

  • Kathy Irwin

We flooded at the same time and none of us laughed. We admired him and would have followed his exanple. Just did not know about the technology. But we do now, thamks to this man.

He should have free insurance coverage for a year.

    • Frank

But his premiums will go up just like his neighbors’ will. That’s the nature of insurance, everybody pays for the misfortunes of the few.

      • Gary

Why pay for other insurance? The $8300 dam was his insurance, and it seems to have paid for itself.

  • SP_88

I wonder if the government will come and make him take it down before the water goes away, because he is somehow harming the environment or violating some stupid regulation? I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • Jimmy Yost

I wonder if the govt will levy a huge fine against him like they did to the guy who built a pond on his own property.

    • MarkovDeBeeste

His property probably fails the “glancing bird” test that determines if something is a protected wetland and he’ll go to jail as an environmental criminal. Either that, or he accidentally drowned some protected species of cockroach. This environmental insanity is totally out of control.

  • It is not Paranoia

    Haha I love it!

    Don’t underestimate the crazy guy!

  • ray hammermill

The sad thing, you are preaching to the choir. I thought it was pretty smart and showed it to someone. Their response 1) he was a fool to spend his money, insurance would have paid for it. 2) if the water had reached 36 inches, it wouldn’t have helped. Go figure.
