Listen to Actor Kurt Russell Own This Reporter on Gun Control: “It’s Absolutely Insane”

Top Tier Gear USA

It’s not like we should sit around as a society fawning over the stuff that comes out of actor’s mouths, but when Kurt Russell owns a reporter on gun control in an interview, it’s definitely worth a listen, if for nothing else than to remind us that not all actors are brainwashed puppets walking around mindlessly spewing the establishment agenda.

It was about the time Hollywood reporter Jeffery Wells went on to say that guns are a quote ”metaphor that disenfranchised white guys need,” that Russell put the guy in his place.

Transcript (via The Blaze):

“If you think gun control is going to change the terrorists’ point of view, I think you’re, like, out of your mind,” he began. “I think anybody [who says that] is. I think it’s absolutely insane.”

“Dude, you’re about to find out what I’m gonna do, and that’s gonna worry you a lot more,” the actor continued. “And that‘s what we need. That will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, to something [like] reality. Which is, if I’m a hockey team and I’ve got some guy bearing down on me as a goal tender, I’m not concerned about what he’s gonna do — I’m gonna make him concerned about what I’m gonna do to stop him. That’s when things change.”

Arguing back, Wells invoked the no-fly list, saying that the people on the list are there for a “good reason,” but that they can allegedly still “get [a] hold of a gun pretty easily.”

“They can also make a bomb pretty easily. So what?” Russell retorted. “They can also get knives and stab you. [What are you] gonna do about that? They can also get cars and run you over. [What are you] gonna do about that?”

What is Wells gonna do? I guess he is going to beg to have his guns taken away so he can be even more helpless against shooters and terrorists, then when one shows up, he will run and go hide in a closet and cower in fear waiting for the government authorities to come save him like the DHS active shooter guide suggests.

Wells tries to counter by mumbling something about “But the San Bernardino shooters…” But just… come on. What a big fat bag of logic fail.

The San Bernardino guns were purchased legally and the shooting itself happened where? That’s right, in yet another gun-free zone. None of the gun control executive orders Obama is about to pass without congressional approval would have stopped what happened.

Banning people on the no-fly list from being able to purchase guns implies that A) terrorists actually wait to jump through legal loopholes to purchase firearms before committing acts of terror and B) that list is even accurate, considering it has been reported that there are even 18-month-old babies on there. But hey, if there’s any silver lining to the fact that the 2nd Amendment is under further attack, at least then the 72 Department of Homeland Security employees on the terrorism watchlist won’t be able to get their hands on a gun, either.

(That last bit was sarcasm.)

Russell, by the way, is a libertarian. He was quoted in the Toronto Sun in 1996 as saying: “I was brought up as a Republican, but when I realized that at the end of the day there wasn’t much difference between a Democrat and Republican, I became a libertarian.”

Be aware of several techniques this interviewer and the left generally use ..

    Starting with his statement that:
    “well all know that ….”
We all don’t know that .. this .. anything or everything and even if we did, we could not all agree on how we interpret what we know or what we think we know.

    “People are …”
Now he’s putting himself in the position of interpreting people’s thoughts for you the listener. A very popular tactic of the left, telling you how to think, how to live, how to feel, who to love and who to hate.

    “Gun culture …”
Which is what … exactly? antique collectors? target shooters? Skeet shooters? hunters who only wish to feed their family? People who only wish to protect their family from intruders? Protecting yourself when you hike the backwoods from Grizzly bears in Alaska? No, he means by gun culture, his idea of ‘nuts’ and everyone (by his falacious association) who advocates for guns for any purpose is then, by his association, a ‘nut’.

Good for Kurt Russell not taking the bait.

    • Razedbywolvs

I don’t consider gun culture or gun nut to be an ad hominem. You really do have to be a little nuts about your hobbie to make something this cool.
      Or this boring

      • joetentpeg

        You tell ’em!!

Next, we need to ban multiple cell phone ownership by Gawd!

No one should be allowed to buy more than one.

Also, who needs high-capacity terabyte storage when gigabytes will do?

        • Razedbywolvs

What makes you think you own your phone?

          • joetentpeg

            I don’t, your NSA does.

            And yours too.

    • jakemon

      true, and well stated, thanks.

    • Keysbum

      you forgot “some people say….”

but if by the “left” you mean Fox News, then yes, I agree with you: i hear them say these all the time.

      • Franie

FOX NEWS is the ‘right’ nimwit.

    • SamPreece

‘The left’ is quite a generalisation. I might be considered left wing but I’m totally against everything this guy has said. Media has propagated fear, not the incidents themselves.

  • EnemyOfTheState

    I always liked Kurt Russell.

    • Joe2D2

Snake Pliskin was a badass and so was Mac in “The Thing”. Hell, I don’t think Kurt Russell knows how to play much else other than badasses. He also did a solid job in “Tombstone” as Wyatt Earp. Yeah, I kinda suspected he was alright, now it’s pretty well confirmed.

      • John Smith

Let nancy boys play the sissy characters….

      • Reverend Draco

He was even a badass in Sky High.

    • Evan Eberhardt

Me too. Now I know why.

  • Occams

Someone carrying is going to take down one of these terrorists, and surprise, surprise…..

It’s going to be one of the paid mercs’ from Craft Intl or Blackwater that the government uses…

And IF – I say IF – the press allows this brainwashed nation a glimpse behind the curtain, this whole ‘war on terror’ and ‘Islamic terrorist jihadists’ nonsense is going to get blown wide open.

  • doucyet

Heroin kills 16,000 people a year in the USA… was outlawed over 100 years ago……no poppies (needed to produce heroin) exist in the USA and their going to stop gun violence by taking mine.

Two things the tyrant must abolish for total control, the bible and guns.

    • Steve

“Two things the tyrant must abolish for total control, the bible and guns.”…well you got the guns part right, but doucyet, the bible is an impediment to logical thought and is responsible for millions of deaths in most places of the world. The Koran and Talmud fall into the same category.

      • doucyet

Men are responsible for the deaths you speak of, not the books.

Same principle applies to guns. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

        • Reverend Draco

The books may have been used to justify the killings. . . but the actual deaths were brought about by people.

In other news: I left a claw hammer sitting in the front porch for about a week – Damn lazy hammer, never once did it embed it’s claws in someone’s head. . .

If you think there are no Opium poppies growing in the US. . . I have a bridge near Azusa I’ll sell you .. .

      • doucyet

Commercial fields Rev. I’m sure that a doper or two have little gardens here and there.

        • Reverend Draco

          Ahh. . . ok. . . commercial fields.

          Now it makes sense.

          • doucyet

According to the book “Dope Inc.” I understand that the Crown controls the poppy fields in Afghanistan. But that’s just a book right! ( ;> )

          • Reverend Draco

The Crown has been involved in the Opium trade since Marco Polo.

No reason to think anything has changed.

          • doucyet

To much money and control involved to stop.

        • sunshine

There used to be beautiful gardens at Monticello, but the government made them destroy all the “opium” poppies, which were a huge draw and very famous. Can you imagine what Jefferson would’ve thought of that?

  • Jon Geissinger

That’s a journalist?? WOW, I want what he is taking!

  • WeeSee

I’m not concerned about what he’s gonna do — I’m gonna make him
concerned about what I’m gonna do to stop him. That’s when things
change. he is right that is when the B.S will change

  • Tom

The interviewer says people get on the no-fly list “because of terrorist connections”. Really? Then how did the scholarly, aging author of an unflattering biography of the Bush family end up on the list? ANYBODY CAN GET ON THE LIST. There are over a million names on the list now. No member of the public has ever seen the list or the criteria for getting on the list. There is no appeal process for getting off the list. If Obama wants to cancel a citizen’s right to self-defense because they’re on the list, then let’s make the whole thing transparent: Make the entire list public, make the reasons they were put on the list public, and create a legally spelled-out appeals process with rules of evidence and the right to call witnesses for defense and cross-examination of witnesses for the prosecution to clear up mistakes. And none of this “We can’t make this public because of national security” B.S., either. The real national security is in exposing this creeping Orwellian police state for what it is and driving a stake through its heart.

    • Anti Everything

Or the 3 year old with the same name as someone on the ‘list’?! They didn’t let the kid fly.

      • Tom

… Proving that shocking, unlimited levels of stupidity are not beyond them.

Perhaps these dots don’t connect, but a graph that’s been going around online for a few days now shows that wages have been going down for every level of education from post-graduate to high school degree. The surprise is a slight uptick in the average wages for less than high school. There must be an explanation, and this is the first one that came to my mind: the government hiring these low-education people to staff DHS and TSA jobs for salaries that are multiples of what they would be worth on the free market.

        • Tom

This video of a DHS employee in a congressional hearing is exactly what I’m talking about. This woman has a high-level position that probably pulls a salary of several hundred thousand dollars per year, but she obviously isn’t qualified to manage the office coffee machine.

  • Anti Everything

HO Ho Ho! Russell owned that agenda driven idiot. What a great thing to listen to. No matter how the dupe tried Russell has a brain and uses it thoughtfully

    • nlightened2

Yep. It’s rather apparent he doesn’t use certain chemicals to mine dopamine from his brain cells as most liberals do.

Things are different now than in the 90’s…yes of course. My theory as to why there’s been a sudden emergence of gun violence is the dying off of baby boomers and access to the internet. In the 90’s many homes didn’t have computers or the internet. Sometime in the 2000’s when more homes gained access to the internet and social media was developed, gun violence began to take off. I believe most of these incidents are staged to invoke fear into the hearts of the American people in hopes of gaining their support for tougher gun laws. Via social media TPTB are able to bring like minds together that support these changes. As an added benefit many people that neither support or oppose these changes are susceptible to being in agreeance with these supporters. TPTB needed the internet in most homes and the creation of social media before they could move forward with their agenda. Everytime something occurs MULTITUDES of people rush to the internet [Facebook] and the shaping of thougts begins. Baby boomers also have to be removed from the equation. Many baby boomers still hold on to traditions. Many of them are religious and strongly support the Constitution. Most of them are dying off and now more than ever is the perfect time for TPTB’s plans for our future to come to fruition. Taking to social media everytime something happens is a big mistake that can’t be undone. The government’s not just becoming too powerful on their own…we’re giving it to them.

    • whiteberry

      Very well stated! I concur!!

  • Tom

There’s always talk from the gun grabbers about a national registration system for firearms, but gun owners and their lobbying organizations like the NRA and GOA have always been able to prevent such legislation. Or so we think…

Few people have connected the dots that if NICS checks are done over the phone, and the NSA is sweeping up every phone call, converting the call to text, and storing the call in Bluffdale, Utah, then we already have national gun registration. The only gun purchase the government doesn’t know about is one in which neither the buyer nor the seller ever communicated by phone or email (emails are stored by the NSA, too). That leaves the “pssst, hey buddy, wanna buy a gun?” carried out on the street corner or parking lot as the only off-the-record gun sales — exactly the kind of sale done by criminals with stolen guns. Even private sales arranged through the popular online gun market places, because phone calls or emails were made to close the deal, go into a permanent government searchable database.

  • CarolinaPride

You know what ole jack Burton says at a time like this.

    • Reverend Draco

Yessir. . . the check is in the mail.

(that movie has some great quotes)

  • Average Joe American

“Dude, you’re about to find out what I’m gonna do, and that’s gonna worry you a lot more,” the actor continued. “And that‘s what we need. That will change the concept of gun culture, as you call it, to something [like] reality.”

And that’s the crux of the message. A mass shooter walks into a gun-free zone, he knows what people are going to do: freeze, cower, try to run. What we need is for him to walk into roomful of potential Kurt Russell types. As soon as he knows where he is, what he’s stumbled into, he will start to worry what they’re gonna do.

“That will change the concept of gun culture.” It will certainly change the culture of violence, when would-be criminals can’t predict what folks are gonna do. We may not need for everyone to carry a firearm, maybe all we need is for the percentage of those who do to reach a critical threshold. One where the odds are so great that at least one individual in any given crowd is packing heat, that wannabe mass shooters don’t even become mass shooters.

We don’t have mass shootings at police conventions or gun shows, target ranges or skeet matches. Why is that?

Free guns and bullets for all Americans would solve this, I am a strong believer of Darwin, nature will handle it, smart people will leave and survive, dumb asses will kill each other. Let the games begin.

Guns are tools nothing more nothing less. A metal object that takes no action by itself and must have someone controlling it to function. What it does depends upon the one controlling it. That object has a very important specific purpose. They are a necessary tool when used correctly in the right hands of a moral law abiding citizen. It functions to help keep America strong and provide individual protection(s). Protection not otherwise available to the individual. The constitution as a matter of fact is based upon individual rights not collective rights. It is the individual that it is to protect. Guns are important to individuals even when used in a collective method, by the military, to protect the nation.

America is unique “because” of guns! It provides, or allows, individual rights because of guns. Freedom of individuals is assured because of guns. And last but surely not least is it is a constitutional guaranteed (not given) right.

This nation will not continue in any resemblance of its present objectives (constitution) if guns are ever removed from the individual citizen. Removing the guns will not now or ever make the citizens safer! The opposite is true. They will become more vulnerable. The citizens will be dominated by the powers who still have the guns. Namely the criminals and the government. The government being the worst of those two evils. As Mao said “power comes from the barrel of a gun.” Anyone not understanding the evils of taking away the guns is either not able to understand history or incapable of understanding how all governments “evolve.” Like guns governments are no better then those at the helm. America should be able to see that now after obama! Ask yourself how could it get worse. The answer is easy take away the guns from the citizens!

All representatives of government advocating gun control as well as those who support them know full well what the end result will be. History has already shown us multiple times exactly what “WILL” happen if we allow this government in any way total control of our guns. If not now at some future date under another president. Always take heed to evil.
