Dr. Diane Harper was a leading expert responsible for the Phase II and Phase III safety and effectiveness studies which secured the approval of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines, Gardasil™ and Cervarix™.  Dr. Harper also authored many of the published, scholarly papers about the vaccines.  She is now the latest in a long string of experts who are pressing the red alert button on the devastating consequences and irrelevancy of these vaccines.  Dr. Harper made her surprising confession at the 4th International Converence on Vaccination which took place in Reston, Virginia.  Her speech, which was originally intended to promote the benefits of the vaccines, took a 180-degree turn when she chose instead to clean her conscience about the deadly vaccines so she “could sleep at night”.  The following is an excerpt from a story by Sarah Cain:

“Dr. Harper explained in her presentation that the cervical cancer risk in the U.S. is already extremely low, and that vaccinations are unlikely to have any effect upon the rate of cervical cancer in the United States.  In fact, 70% of all HPV infections resolve themselves without treatment in a year, and the number rises to well over 90% in two years.  Harper also mentioned the safety angle.  All trials of the vaccines were done on children aged 15 and above, despite them currently being marketed for 9-year-olds.  So far, 15,037 girls have reported adverse side effects from Gardasil™ alone to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), and this number only reflects parents who underwent the hurdles required for reporting adverse reactions.  At the time of writing, 44 girls are officially known to have died from these vaccines.  The reported side effects include Guillian Barré Syndrome (paralysis lasting for years, or permanently — sometimes eventually causing suffocation), lupus, seizures, blood clots, and brain inflammation.  Parents are usually not made aware of these risks.  Dr. Harper, the vaccine developer, claimed that she was speaking out, so that she might finally be able to sleep at night.  ’About eight in every ten women who have been sexually active will have HPV at some stage of their life,’ Harper says.  ’Normally there are no symptoms, and in 98 per cent of cases it clears itself.  But in those cases where it doesn’t, and isn’t treated, it can lead to pre-cancerous cells which may develop into cervical cancer.’”

Although these two vaccines are marketed as protection against cervical cancer, this claim is purely hypothetical.  Studies have proven “there is no demonstrated relationship between the condition being vaccinated for and the rare cancers that the vaccine might prevent, but it is marketed to do that nonetheless.  In fact, there is no actual evidence that the vaccine can prevent any cancer.  From the manufacturers own admissions, the vaccine only works on 4 strains out of 40 for a specific venereal disease that dies on its own in a relatively short period, so the chance of it actually helping an individual is about about the same as the chance of her being struck by a meteorite.”

UPDATE #1: Since coming forward with the truth about the devastating consequences of the HPV vaccine, Dr. Harper has been victim of a relentless campaign attempting to discredit the validity of her claims.  Harper was even misquoted by British tabloid The Sunday Express which printed a false story loaded with fabricated quotations attributed to Harper.  In an interview with The Guardian, Harper makes it very clear about what exactly she said in order to protect herself from a potential lawsuit.  In an interview with CBS NEWS, Harper clarifies her position, and once again makes it crystal clear just how devastating this vaccine can be: “If we vaccinate 11 year olds and the protection doesn’t last … we’ve put them at harm from side effects, small but real, for no benefit,” says Dr. Harper. “The benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers, they are just postponed, unless the protection lasts for at least 15 years, and over 70% of all sexually active females of all ages are vaccinated.”  She also says that enough serious side effects have been reported after Gardasil use that the vaccine could prove riskier than the cervical cancer it purports to prevent.  Cervical cancer is usually entirely curable when detected early through normal Pap screenings.

“The risks of serious adverse events including death reported after Gardasil use in (the JAMA article by CDC’s Dr. Barbara Slade) were 3.4/100,000 doses distributed,” Harper tells CBS NEWS.  ”The rate of serious adverse events on par with the death rate of cervical cancer.  Gardasil has been associated with at least as many serious adverse events as there are deaths from cervical cancer developing each year.  Indeed, the risks of vaccination are underreported in Slade’s article, as they are based on a denominator of doses distributed from Merck’s warehouse.  Up to a third of those doses may be in refrigerators waiting to be dispensed as the autumn onslaught of vaccine messages is sent home to parents the first day of school.  Should the denominator in Dr. Slade’s work be adjusted to account for this, and then divided by three for the number of women who would receive all three doses, the incidence rate of serious adverse events increases up to five fold. How does a parent value that information,” said Harper.

“Parents and women must know that deaths occurred,” Harper tells CBS NEWS.  “Not all deaths that have been reported were represented in Dr. Slade’s work, one-third of the death reports were unavailable to the CDC, leaving the parents of the deceased teenagers in despair that the CDC is ignoring the very rare but real occurrences that need not have happened if parents were given information stating that there are real, but small risks of death surrounding the administration of Gardasil.”  She also worries that Merck’s aggressive marketing of the vaccine may have given women a false sense of security. “The future expectations women hold because they have received free doses of Gardasil purchased by philanthropic foundations, by public health agencies or covered by insurance is the true threat to cervical cancer in the future.  Should women stop Pap screening after vaccination, the cervical cancer rate will actually increase per year. Should women believe this is preventive for all cancers — something never stated, but often inferred by many in the population — a reduction in all health care will compound our current health crisis.  Should Gardasil not be effective for more than 15 years, the most costly public health experiment in cancer control will have failed miserably.”  Harper notes that her concern for the vaccine’s deadly side effects applies only to women in the Western world.  ”Of course, in developing countries where there is no safety Pap screening for women repeatedly over their lifetimes, the risks of serious adverse events may be acceptable as the incidence rate of cervical cancer is five to 12 times higher than in the US, dwarfing the risk of death reported after Gardasil.”

UPDATE #2: The National Vaccine Information Center HAS CONFIRMED two virologists, Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski have filed a lawsuit against their former employer and vaccine manufacturer Merck.  NVIC writes: “The lawsuit alleges that Merck defrauded the U.S. for over 10 years by overstating the MMR vaccine’s effectivenes.  The virologists claim in their lawsuit that they ‘Witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falseification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine’s efficacy findings.”  NVIC president and co-founder, Barbara Loe Fisher, warns of the disturbingly cozy relationship and overwhelming conflict of interest between federal agencies charged with vaccine safety oversight (such as the Centers for Disease Control) and vaccine manufacturers.  Merck’s global vaccine sales total more than $20 BILLION A YEAR.

As the world’s pharmaceutical giants continue to be driven less by moral accountability and more by profit and shareholder-driven bottom lines, we are going to see more and more products such as this vaccine which are marketed as “essential to one’s survival.”  While some vaccines are indeed essential, such as vaccines for polio and measles, the HPV vaccine is a new beast entirely.  To learn more about how pharmaceutical giants are putting profits ahead of ethics you need to watch FRONTLINE’s terrifying new documentary “Hunting The Nightmare Bacteria.”

This is heart breaking and a massive tragedy. This has to be taken off the market ASAP!! The mass media brainwashing has to stop, the Manufacturers have to be held liable and made to be accountable. These companies have to pay financially to the victims of this deliberate Fraud. It may help give them some quality of life and make up for the health, the life and dreams that have so savagely and knowingly been ripped from those affected by this Scam. I hope they pay dearly for the trauma they have caused!!!!!

    • Frank Gimsdale

Well if this is true, I say we should shut down the FDA and CDC which if what these whistle blowers say is true are more dangerous than these drug companies, since their job is to make sure stuff like this does not happen. People rely on these organizations to do their jobs.to ensure that the drugs sold in our country meet the safety and efficacy stated by the manufactures. Maybe they should be private companies that do these test and can be sued out of business if they fail. This should probably extend to most European and Asian countries as well with similar FDA type organizations that have also allowed this apparently fraudulent drug to be sold on the market. Or, just maybe, they are doing their jobs and these two whistle blowers are full of it. I honestly don’t know and I don’t think you do either.

      • V.Alexander

I do know that Dr. Paul Offit is on the Board which oversees vaccine approval @ the CDC. He also created and owns the patent of the Rotovirus vaccine. He makes millions of $. Seems to me a conflict of interest.

        • treatmentforall

Have you read his research? Talked with him? Talked with his patients? The only conflict Dr. Offit has is with vaccine-preventable illness. He is a pediatric infectious disease physician and helped create the rotavirus vaccine in an effort to help his patient population. Additionally, his role in governing vaccine decisions for any vaccine other than RotaTeq doesn’t even have possible COI.

          • Angie 1976

The conflict of interest is he is on the approval board. He created a vaccine. Then he worked on the approval committee for his vaccine.

          • http://www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php Skeptical Raptor

A vaccine that has saved hundreds of thousands of lives. What have you done to help humanity? Anything? Saved a single life? Didn’t think so you sanctimonious ignorant fool.

          • HMR_in_SV

Your diatribe is unnecessary and inappropriate. While this article has many statements taken out of context, and many of the comments are either ignorant or emotional, Dr.Harper clearly stated the causality of HPV prevention and cancer. Her statement breaks the connection between the 4 strains of virus and the possible outcome of eventual cancer. IF the virus doesn’t die as 90% does within two years of infection, it may be a cause of as much as 70% of the cancer. However, the cancer is treatable when discovered early. So, the trade off between the risk to destroying the lives of your girls is ignorantly being pushed on parents.

If I had known about these incidents, and the doctors who administered the vaccine to my daughter should have informed us of the risk, I would not have allowed it. Now my daughter is one of the rare victims, and is living with constant pain. This has been terribly disruptive to her and her future.

It is all well and good to be a skeptic, but it should go both ways.

Your ignorance and sanctimonious lies are just going to be ignored. You are harming children. You sound like a psychopath.

Have you read the comments made by Voter? He was the reporter/author of the original news piece that this mishmash article is based upon!

I am the VP of Corp Dev for a start up coamy in the Silicon Valley that is HEAVILY science based. If you think that I am anti-science, then ask Dr. David Brin about me. He is a world leading astrophysicist and author. I can give you many references. Can you?

Science is about observation, repeatable experimentation, questioning hypotheses and facts, and analysis. You seem to think it is a religion. YOU are the science denier here. Why?

Even if a few people got sick from a drug that saved millions of people then the drug should still be used. However, nothing has ever proven that vaccines cause anything you say it does.

            http://www.snopes.com/medical/drugs/gardasil.asp

          • anonymous

Speaking as one of the many teenagers who has gotten sick most likely from this drug, this is in no way true. We should at least feel safe being vaccinated without ramifications such as these. I always believed in vaccines but from the moment I realized gardasil had probably caused me to become ill i haven’t taken a single one in three years. If I had been given a choice between the risk of not being vaccinated and the life I’m living now and I can tell you for sure what I’d of chosen.

          • holoh

I know it sucks on an individual level and I hope there is good medical news for you in the future, but because of your condition, it is impossible for you to be impartial on this issue.

          • holoh

There is no way to know what she got sick from. Your calling someone names only shows that you have low self-esteem and that you know you have no actual argument.

Michael blacklisted your email from his site and DID IT within less than 3 hours after I asked him to.

He also apologized for “nasty trolls” like you and told me to let him KNOW if you came back through a different email address and I have done so.

I am reporting you now to this site and will also be filing a report with the FTC for cyber stalking which is a federal offense.

Losers NEVER win and you are the BIGGEST loser EVER.

          • holoh

Please do. Just to let you know though, I’m sure the FTC will ask you why you are calling them since the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is charged with protecting customers from businesses. I’m not a business, lol.

Also, none of my posts have threatened you or been in any other way illegal. I have just disagreed with your opinion – something you and your fellow liberals have a hard time dealing with.

While you are doing that, I’m going to let my local FBI office know about your threatening and therefore illegal comments such as “DROP DEAD, CHILD” which appear on this very page.

          • peace angel

Of course you KNOW I meant FCC and please do report me to the FBI. I have lots of friends and family who do or have worked for the FBI. THEY KNOW me there also because of my work on the SHADOW gov. THEY used to FIND me every time I submitted an article to political mags in the 70′s and 80′s on the CABAL.

THEY KNOW I am daily protected by John Whitehead at the Ruthersford Institute who located Marine Brandon Raub after the FEDS abducted him.

THEY don’t scare me. I am already on Obama’s Cyber warrior hit list and his MAIN CORE list. I am not afraid to die and they will never take me alive.

AND I am expatriating in weeks and TODAY they have much more dangerous and important people to track and kill.

LOL. You’re nothing but a troll. At least your face and body fits the bill in this case.

          • peace angel

I emailed Micheal already and he WILL get rid of you AGAIN. He said you might come back using a different email and to let him KNOW as soon as you do so.

I think he will be blown away that you did so as quickly as you did which constitutes cyber stalking and bullying.

Micheal also deleted your comments—-all of them not just mine. He will not tolerate you there just like I told you and HE does not have to be a friend to give the same courtesy to anyone which is WHY his site does not have people like you on it.

I also reported you to this site and informed them I will be reporting you to the FTC.

Sites where the authors are trying to connect with their readers and who encourage input, feedback and communal interaction have reason to get rid of stalkers and trolls and you are BOTH.

UNLIKE at disqus, individual bloggers CARE that people like you are stalking and running off other interested parties. YOU are a nuisance to any and all of us who have no time for you and your childish games.

          • holoh

Those bloggers are able to operate only because they have the ability to block people with differing opinions. It is sickening.

I have never threatened you or done anything illegal – I have simply disagreed with your opinion based on my equally valid opinion. I engaged you because your opinion is valid, not because I wanted to do things like censor you by having your account blocked.

I feel very sad for people like you who can’t handle the opinions of others.

          • peace angel

Michael has now blocked your IP address and I am done talking to you here or any place. I don’t value anyone’s opinion.l value truth.

          • Phil Braica

Go read the actual CDC data. 55 million doses, 1.8k million serious side effects, 17k cancers prevented. The article’s data doesn’t match it’s source, I’m sorry about your daughter and I’m not sure what I’d do for my kids, but I’d like to make the choice on real data, the article isn’t accurate.

          • HMR_in_SV

Thank you for the specifics. They support the case that this vaccine is an expensive (to the medical system in total) and unnecessary risk. The trade off to reduce a treatable cancer with the long term hazard (based on the reported cases alone, not including the unknown number of unreported cases) of disability or death, just isn’t there for our society to have a policy like this. This is neither the polio or flu vaccines which really save thousands of lives.

This article is terrible! It misquotes original sources, like the doctor’s comments and the CDC statistics. But, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Anyone can publish on the Internet, and this is just another example of rumor mongering. Another example are those who defame the sites that check sources and report facts, as some people on this thread are doing. GIGO.

          • homasapiens

In other words’ “This article has been discredited but I really want to believe that something unnameable is wrong somewhere…”

          • HMR_in_SV

Just because the author of this article got many facts wrong, and whoever wrote the headline simply lied, doesn’t make the verifiable facts wrong. They are available from superior sources including the author of the original interview with Dr. Harper who made some statements within these comments elsewhere about her piece for a national newspaper.

It shouldn’t be so easy to make you believe the opposite simply by publishing a piece with many correct facts among misstatements. Check the sources for the real facts. Japan has removed the HPV vaccines from its required lists as of June 2013, and now requires medical personnel NOT to suggest it.

          • homasapiens

We need an article consisting of correct facts.

          • peace angel

GO TO BEFORE IT’S NEWS. THIS IS AN OFFICIAL INSIDER AND WHISTLE BLOWER WEBSITE WITH TONS OF REAL MEDICAL INFO AND SEE MY OTHER COMMENTS ON HERE.

          • homasapiens

Okay, I’m in, and in the very first paragraphs of the article it says that the japanese government was responding to public fears, not to medical issues.
“The decision does not mean that the vaccine itself is problematic from the viewpoint of safety,” said Mariko Momoi, who heads a ministry task force looking into the controversy and is a vice president of the International University of Health and Welfare in O-tawara, Tochigi, Japan. “By implementing investigations, we want to offer information that can make the people feel more at ease.”

The public very commonly confuses correlation with causation. Governments have to cater to this in practical ways.

          • HMR_in_SV

Yes. This is a borderline issue. It needs more study. The statistics quoted in the article compares the outcomes of comprehensive vaccination versus none.
On the one hand, a small percentage of potential treatable cancer cases MAY be avoided, while a similar percentage of young girls fall victim of the side effects that lead to death or untreatable conditions.
The Japanese take action, erring on the side of caution, while the U.S. blindly goes ahead without further data analysis. With the amount of money involved in the vaccination program, one needs to wonder what is the guiding principle here. Are we ostriches?

We need to stop putting young girls at risk until we know what is going on. The vaccine only leads to the treatable forms of cancer under very specific circumstances. The HPV infection has to survive its normal 2 year life cycle, which is less than 10%. The cancer has be undetected until extreme, when standard Pap Smears are effective early detection. And, more.

This isn’t the flu vaccine which kills a handful of people each year but prevents potentially hundreds of thousands of death, and certainly makes life better for those people who have the vaccine yet still contract the flu.

There are many legitimate articles about the science and policy. Seek them out. It’s crap like this piece that is the problem.

          • HMR_in_SV

I’m not sure if you are supportive of my comment or not. Who is burying their head in the sand? Certainly not the scientists and researchers who question the efficacy of the vaccine, nor the people who are trying to get good people to open their eyes so as to demand more transparency and analysis before continuing this social experiment. The government of Japan pulled its head out of the proverbial sand and has ceased its recommendation of the vaccines until there are answers to the mounting data against it.

So, which side are you on?

          • peace angel

IT CERTAINLY IS THE SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHERS WHO HAVE BEEN COVERING UP LIES FOR THE RX COMPANIES FOR DECADES.

GET BACK TO ME AFTER YOU READ MY RECOMMENDED ARTICLES. IF EVERYTHING THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE HAS PRINTED FOR TWO DECADES WAS BASED ON LIES TO FAVOR RX COMPANIES WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH. IF THE CDC AND FDA ALWAYS SIDE WITH THE RX COMPANIES WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH.

          • HMR_in_SV

@philbraica:disqus, you may want to read my recent post here in response to @joebrinker:disqus. This article is crap, but the data on the averse effects and the report about it, show that the risk isn’t worth it. There were 32 deaths out of 12,424 reports during the two year period of the study. 6.2% of the 53.9 reports per 100,000 doses were categorized as serious. With only 17K cancers being prevented out of 55M doses, it would be easy to use a spreadsheet to show the inadequacy to support this with an economic model. If the money for the vaccines had been spent on education for early prevention, we would have a substantially greater effect for the money, without the trauma to the young girls exhibiting the sometimes tragic side effects.

This is NOT the flu vaccine.

IT CAUSES MANY OTHER DEADLY AND DEBILITATING DISORDERS AND DISEASES AND THE CDC HAS KNOWN THIS FOR A DECADE.

IN ADDITION, DR RUSSELL BLAYLOCK HAS BEEN REPORTING ON THE FILLERS IN ALL DRUGS GIVEN TO US IN THE US AND THE OTC DRUGS ARE ALSO FILLED WITH POISONS. HE BREAKS IT ALL DOWN AND HAS BEEN DOING SO FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.

AND FINALLY, THE PRIMARY EDITOR FOR THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE JUST REPORTED THAT EVERY ARTICLE THEY HAVE WRITTEN FOR THE TWO DECADES SHE WAS THE EDITOR WAS BASED ON LIES AND SPIN REGARDING THE RX DRUG BUSINESS. SHE SAID ALL THE ARTICLES HAD TO FAVOR TAKING DRUGS.

GO TO BEFORE IT’S NEWS WEBSITE AND SEARCH FOR ALL THESE. THEY ARE ALL THERE.

            GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DAUGHTER.

I HAVE ALREADY SEEN A LAW SITE THAT IS SUING THE MAKERS OF GARDASIL.

THIS LAWSUIT REPORTS 300 GIRLS DIED.

          • Sam Harris

Very sorry to hear this about your daughter and yes the side effects are rare. I think giving it at 11 years old is a bit of a stretch and unnecessary at such an age. I was 25 years old when I had the vaccine and haven’t had any issues honestly. I do approve of your analyses and appreciate it.

For someone who touts science-based evidence for a living, Skeptical Raptor, you sure do like to spout non-science mish-mash (not to mention resorting to name-calling, the last defense for those who have no defense). There is absolutely no scientific evidence that this vaccine has saved ANY life yet, let alone “hundreds of thousands.” Get real. This vaccine has shown to prevent HPV infections that, were they to linger beyond two or three years, could possibly — but not necessarily probably — develop into CIN II and/or III, which left untreated could probably developed into cervical cancer, which kills about 4000 women a year in the U.S., many of whom haven’t had a Pap smear within the last 3-5 years of their discovering that they had cervical cancer.

that’s a lie. saved lives. these vaccines do nothing short of ruin lives. the same year I received a TB shot in 1970, I was diagnosed with a rare bone disease, “Leg Pirthies”. Maybe not so rare anymore. This disease caused the bone in my hips to not receive the nutrients they needed to grow and develop completely throughout my childhood. Like most diseases, they are becoming more and more prevalent. Was the vaccine I received as a child the cause of this bone disease. I can’t say. But up until this vaccine was given to me, I was a very happy healthy little boy. Then I received the vaccine shot, and I started having problems with sickness and pain. I have suffered all my life with many physical ailments. granted I’m still alive, I’m still breathing but I believe my quality of life might have been so much better without that vaccine.

“A vaccine that has saved hundreds of thousands of lives.”
Really? Where is your evidence the vaccine saved a SINGLE life? The key word here is EVIDENCE!

If the vaccine works, no one could contract HPV. Failure to contract HPV is neither PROOF a single life has been saved, nor that it was the vaccine that prevented the contraction of HPV.

If vaccinated individuals DO succumb to HPV OR have debilitating side effects, you definitely have PROOF that the vaccine is a danger to society. Whether through misleading advertising and defense, or by selling snake oil, those behind it are guilty of causing injury to others.

Finally, since when has it become acceptable to “force” pharmaceutical products on individuals that choose not to have it? Making HPV vaccination mandatory may be acceptable to liberals, who can’t mind their own business, but is an insult to the free thinking intelligent individuals in society; who choose to follow their own intuition.

If you read carefully 1) they say they got the data from the CDC. 2) The data from the CDC is different. 3) The CDC says a total of 55 million doses, and 22k people with side effects, most redness at injection site, fainted during the shot, swelling at injection site. 4) Of the 55 million doses, < 1.8k were serious or 0.0032%. 5) CDC also states compared to what happened over a similar time period to people who didn't take the vaccine about the same. 6) In some rare cases (<10) of the 55 million someone was badly seriously injured or died. 7) It is estimated that 17k cancers were prevented.

Erm, the International Public Conference on Vaccination is an anti-vax conference.

Can you provide links to any impartial info? I just wish people would be straight with us.

From reading around it seems that Dr Harper did not develop the vaccine, and she’s come out and stated that her presentation (in 2009) has been misrepresented.

Like I said, I just wish people would stop spinning things, and we can get the truth.

    • Chris Henson

Nobody has died as a result of taking these vaccines. The 44 referenced deaths are not documented anywhere, they never happened. Nobody has been able to link any serious adverse side effects to the vaccines. Even the doctor quoted has filed complaints over how her words have been twisted and distorted. Dr. Harper has been quoted as recently as 2013 as saying she fully supports the continued use of these vaccines. It’s all just right-wing rhetoric from loonies who think that a vaccine for HPV will lead to sexual promiscuity, an assertion that has no basis in fact, just like every assertion in this article.

      • jjajja

Thank you for being the sound of reason

      • Gospace

Anti-vaxxers come (primarily) from the loony left. Would you like a list? Anti-flouridation (primarily) from the loony right. But they are both well represented on both these issues.

        • HMR_in_SV

I am very much pro vaccines. I recently had both flu and pneumonia vaccines. But the 4HPV vaccine is both unnecessary and dangerous. My daughter is a victim of this vaccine. If you look at the facts, the numbers show it is mathematically a bad policy decision.

Now, get your head out of your ass and stop associating those of us who are against THIS vaccine with the anti-vac loonies! The science proves the controversy is real and there is ample evidence that this experiment needs to be halted.

          Do the science!

          • Gospace

I wasn’t referring to the HPV vaccine in particular- I was taking excption to declaring anti-vaxxers as anti-science right wingers. FYI, my daughter had zero problems from HPV vaccine. Jury is still out on it.

          • Chris

All of your negative HPV info, ALL of it, comes from anti all vaccination sources.

Furthermore, even if the vaccine causes a problem in 0.00001% of all people and your daughter was one of those unlucky ones, it saves 99.9999% of the rest. Suing a manufacturer because of that is a pretty big f*** you to all the rest of the people it helped. It’s like getting pissed off at a company because you received bad service and declaring them “horrible”, just because you happened to go in at the absolute most busy time of day and were completely oblivious to all the rest of the people that company has done right by.

People like you have obviously never been in touch with real life, and you should be ashamed that you can’t see past your own nose.

          • HMR_in_SV

Chris, you are obvious ignorant of statistics, medical liability laws, and most of all the meaning of corporate responsibility. If you stay at a Hilton, and a maid goes crazy and kills your child, Hilton is responsible and you would sue Hilton.

The proven statistics are substantial in the after launch environment. And, this is a global issue. In June 2013, the Japan Health Services Agency (it’s equivalent to the U.S. department) pulled the requirement for the vaccines and has instructed medical providers to NOT insist on giving children the vaccine.

This is not the Flu Vaccine we are talking about. This vaccine does not save lives. It is considered to be a preventative to the Cancers that may be caused later in life should a person contract certain HPV types that don’t die normally within two years as about 90% of infections do. All of the cancers this may prevent are treatable when caught early. There is fear in the medical community that this could lessen the testing for these cancers, which are non-intrusive blood tests, and occur without the HPV disease having been present.

If the tobacco industry did not know the harmful effects of their product while marketing it, that would have been a very different case than the one that occurred. The small sample testing prior to the release of the HPV Vaccines, were inadequate, and the new real world data proves the vaccines are hazardous. Forget this stupid article, and get the real facts on this particular vaccine. Drug companies make mistakes, that are often only discovered after a drug hits the market. This is one of those mistakes. They now know the data is there, and unlike Japan, in the U.S. they refuse to address the issue.

Now, maybe you should examine your own reasons for being an a**hole to the parent of suffering child, before you continue to criticize the people who are standing up to save the future victims of this hazardous vaccine.

          • Chris

“If you stay at a Hilton, and a maid goes crazy and kills your child, Hilton is responsible and you would sue Hilton.”

You might, but I on the other hand understand reality enough to know that the Hilton did not CAUSE it. Correlation and causality are two separate things. I would not hold them responsible unless they actually DID something that caused it. Furthermore, I wouldn’t even sue, because lawsuits are vindictive and I disapprove of them. Unless you are talking about just a lawsuit to stop something. Lawsuits for money are one of the banes of society.

Furthermore, I was not being an ***hole to you. Not at all. I was nothing but perfectly normal to you, and if that is what you read into it, then you just want to read things into what you see. Not surprising frankly.

The fact remains that all sources saying this is bad come from blatantly biased sources. Sources that say it is alright may also be biased, but not all of them are. I am simply not going to take the word of either an obviously biased anti all vaccine source when they are KNOWN to purposefully lie and distort, and I am also not going to take singular examples as evidence that a vaccine does more harm than good. That is the CRUX of this whole thing. Vaccines, as long as they are not prepared to be intentionally harmful, do more good than harm. For every one person that may be harmed, there are multiple people that are helped. That is the bottom line, and you have NOT shown anything that calls that into question.

          • HMR_in_SV

Alright. Fair enough. After all, what started this is the crappy article
to which we are commenting. So, here is a much more legitimate source
            and quote from that article:

            Nick Mulcahy, June 25, 2013

            <>

            <>

In Japan, they take these numbers and determine that the vaccine needs more study before forcing it on their children.

The reason we are not halting this push until more data can be analyzed and we have better science to back its safety is simply the enormous multi-billion dollar expenditure to the drug companies.

Hopefully, this is enough evidence to get you to look at legitimate sources for data. As I said, I am pro-vaccine. Just not this one!

      • Penny Jackson Roth

“Loonies who think that a vaccine for HPV will lead to sexual promiscuity”. They came up with a vaccine to protect against sexual promiscuity. Why is sex outside of marriage so important? Because it feels good? Heroin feels good too I am told. Better than sex. Loony is as loony does.

    • Phil Braica

You should check snopes and CDC, this article is bogus, it misquotes it’s sources (Dr. Harper apparently didn’t create the vaccine and supports the vaccine use) and the numbers quoted above “from the CDC” are not from the CDC, the actual numbers are different.

i have vaccinated 2 boys and a very young female with this does anybody know how long to wait before expecting something to happen or if its right away this is so scary i could or can loose all my kids over this b.s i want to know what to look for or if they should be tested for something

    • Martin Watt

Almost everything in this article is total antivaccination crap. virtually everyone who gets these vaccinations have no reaction at all. A few have some slight adverse effects, some peoples adverse effects will not actually be anything to do with the jab. they will just be ill, and would have been without it. A tiny minority have more severe reactions. and yes one or two might be quite serious. However it is thought that it could save up to 100,000 lives of people who are alive today. in the US alone. If your kids have been vaccinated for this and not reacted within a couple of days forget about it.

No vaccinations are 100% safe. All vaccinations however are given because they will greatly reduce your children’s chances of worse illnesses. Unless you saw lots of kids with all the diseases that are now very rare it can sometimes be tempting to not vaccinate. The risk from not vaccinating is much worse than from vaccinating.

When I was a kid everyone knew someone who had died of a now preventable illness. I however know no one directly that has been harmed by a vaccine. I know many more people now than I did as a child.

      • dawn

Well I’m not a big fan of medicine in general, I rarely take any kind of medicine, rarely even ibuprofen.
I never take medicine…And I never get sick.
No flu shots, no vaccines, rarely ever any cold medicine or pain reliever and I never get sick.
Maybe once a year I get a cold and that’s it.
These drugs may not be “bad” for you but that also doesn’t mean they are “good” for you.
Modern medicine isn’t natural, our bodies are natural, chemically filled medicine can’t be good for us.
When you have medicine like nitroglycerin for patients that have heart attacks, which has the same chemicals as the stuff used for blowing through mountains to build railroads, it cannot be good for us.
In nature some animals live a long time and some die, Darwin called it survival of the fittest.
I’m not emotionless or heartless but some people were meant to live a long time and some were meant to have short lives, it’s nature.
So these drugs are trying to prevent the inevitable, not just this one but all of them.
        Let nature take it’s course.
You dont need drugs every time your head hurts, you feel a little crappy, or you think if you take it you will be protecting yourself.
Plus hpv isn’t that dangerous, she was basically saying on e that the medicine is more dangerous than what your trying to protect from..because hpv isn’t that dangerous..not because the drug is extremely bad. But the medicine still isn’t good for you.
        That’s just my opinion.
        But opinions are like assholes
Everyone’s got one, some just stink worse than others lol

    • HMR_in_SV

My daughter had an diverse reaction t the vaccine and is now living in constant pain, similar in nature to fibro myalgia. It took about six months for the symptoms to manifest fully. They start out like a case of the flu, recurring over and over with shorter lag times of recovery.

  • Peggy

I agree, we as parents need to do what is best for our children. I’m sure many parents who have allowed this shot to be given to their child thought they were doing just that. I on the other hand am one of those mom’s who was cautious from the start and figured it would be better to not allow this shot to be given to my kids. I have actually been waiting for this kind of thing to come out about this shot. A new drug with no side affect warnings doesn’t sound like something I’m willing to try or let my kids try. Neither of my daughters have received this shot nor will they. I took my 11 year old in for shots last year and they offered it to him as well. I didn’t know boys were eligible for this shot but he didn’t nor will he get it either. I can’t believe it took this long for all of this crap to finally come out.

My daughter is one who was devastated and almost died from this deadly vaccine forced on our family! She has suffered severe neurological and reproductive damage that is irreversible. As we are thankful she survived, she lives in fear of dying every day because of the extent of damage done to her central nervous system, as do I. This being a teenage girl OF 15, not 9-11, who used to dance four nights a week, ran cross country, cheerleading, dance scholarships, active in her community and volunteer services. She had everything before her and it was all taken away from this vaccine! She suffers strokes ever since, as well, that words cannot describe and will be on a wealth of medications for the rest of her life. I am very PRO vaccine, but this vaccine murders children literally and by taking away their entire lives. Everyone in the medical community who pushes or even suggests this vaccine and in our government should be stripped of the jobs and license!! They KNOW this is a deadly vaccine! Thank you, Dr. Harper, for trying to save future children and being honest. I wish you would have sooner, as it may have saved my daughter from this horrific nightmare, but thank you for trying to save others.

    • TCrab

Exactly how was your daughter forced to get the vaccine?

    • treatmentforall

While it is incredibly sad that your daughter is ill, I can’t figure out why this is Gardasil’s fault. Could it perhaps actually be an autoimmune response that would occur to any vaccine/infection and the Gardasil was the thing that happened to trigger it? When you make assertions like this you aren’t helping your daughter, but you are risking the lives of the daughters of people who listen to you. Cervical cancer is deadly and preventable. Correlation is not causation, plain and simple.

It certainly didn’t cause lupus. From what I understand it is not uncommon for women to start developing symptoms in their late teens. Unfortunately lupus and many other autoimmune diseases cause global issues in our bodies. It sucks, but it’s not the vaccine’s fault.

Who the hell cares what SNOPES SAY? THEY ARE A JOKE CONTROLLED BY COMMIE SOROS

  • Lynn Hawkins

And, just think, your representatives in the Congress AND the Senate voted to make it illegal to file a lawsuit against vaccine manufacturers. Who are they protecting? Not you! They are protecting their own pocketbook as most are highly invested in these Big Pharma companies.

    • friday51

Yep, that should tell us all something. Big pharmacy controls most of our legislatures by campaign donations and pay offs.

    • The Watcher

Can you cite to that law please?

      • Lynn Hawkins

You can find the actual law at:
        http://www.in.gov/isdh/files/VICP.pdf

And to view how the Supreme Court is interpreting this law and how it works – information on one of the most recent decision can be found at:

        http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Justice/2011/0222/Parents-can-t-sue-drug-firms-when-vaccines-cause-harm-Supreme-Court-says

        • The Watcher

OK, no one “made it illegal to file a lawsuit” against anyone. You can file all the lawsuits you want. However (and this is according to your own link), the VICP halts lawsuits under certain circumstances and allows a person injured by a vaccine to recover from a fund established to pay out for vaccine-related injuries.

If a person is denied compensation under the VICP, they can still file a lawsuit later.

      • Lynn Hawkins

The part in the law that keeps them from being sued states that no law suit can move forward – “if the injury or death resulted from side effects that were unavoidable even though the vaccine was properly prepared and was accompanied by proper directions and warnings.”

        • HMR_in_SV

Thank you. My guess is that the class action will be based on the lack of warnings about side effects when these had already been reported.

      • Lynn Hawkins

Weird – I posted links to the law and they did not appear in this post. I’ll try again!

Here’s an article explaining how the Supreme Court interpreted this law and comments by the SCOTUS:

  • Simon Sneeth

The Snopes article people are posting (http://www.snopes.com/medical/drugs/gardasil.asp) does a good job dispelling the dangerous misinformation contained in this article. The FDA, CDC (and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices), AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics, American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, Mayo Clinic, World Health Organization, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Infectious Diseases Society of America, and many other groups all recommend the HPV vaccine.

While it’s always a good idea to weigh the risks vs benefits of any treatment, the safety data on vaccines has repeatedly shown that the risk of serious side effects is very small compared to the benefits vaccination provides.

It wasn’t too long ago that many infectious diseases (polio, measles, whooping cough, meningitis, etc) once routinely killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults. I think part of the problem is that the more recent generations have no idea what life in those days was like. Thanks to vaccines, we have seen a dramatic decrease of new cases of infectious diseases and their devastating effects. If we stop vaccinating we will surely see these diseases return.

I have a daughter and 2 stepsons. I know how very protective parents are, susceptible to worrying about anything that is even rumored to harm our children. But rather than worry that vaccinations may result in some unforeseen harm to our child, we should worry about the harm that will definitely come to all children, and many adults as well, if too many of us refuse to properly immunize our children.

Without a doubt vaccination is one of the greatest breakthroughs in the history of modern medicine. No other medical intervention has done more to save lives and improve quality of life. If you feel it’s prudent to wait until we have more long-term data on the HPV vaccine, that’s your choice (and a risk to your child), but as a scientist, I’m satisfied with the data collected so far and the rock-solid safety record of vaccines in general.

    • EMR

No, you see the problem is that the FDA, CDC (and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices), AmericanAcademy of Pediatrics, American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, Mayo Clinic, World Health Organization, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Infectious Diseases Society of America, and other groups are all lying to us as it is a huge conspiracy. Of course I ambling sarcastic. I know a lot of people who have gotten all three shots and they are fine with no side effects, and guess what else? No HPV. People just get sick and blame it on something they took, not being able to accept that you can get sick from nature. I wonder how many of these stories of people who have gotten sick or children on here are even true.

  • Jeanne

My daughter had 2 of the injections, and developed an aggressive form of Rheumatoid arthritis shortly after. (Its where your immune system attacks your own body.) She’s had it for 5 years now, they can’t get it under control. Her Dr. said there’s more of these cases than people know about. It makes me sick every time I see these articles. She was a really healthy kid before, and now she takes $6000 worth of meds each month just to keep her out of a wheelchair.

I love that people just keep posting the snopes link and telling everyone who claims to have experienced or witnessed side effects that there is no connection to the vaccine. How on earth could you possibly know this? The vaccine insert clearly lists the side effects, and these are listed effects.
And why should anyone trust the snopes website? I’m not saying that this article is accurate by any means, but is snopes really a source to be completely trusted either? Why are people so mean and rude. Do you really think you know more than someone else? Just because you heard something different than them?

  • HMR_in_SV

To all of you who don’t want to hear the truth in this article, please consider the case of my daughter. As a family, we have always been pro-vaccines. I recently had both a flu and pneumonia vaccine. However, the HPV vaccine is unnecessary and can cause great harm or death.

My daughter had an diverse reaction to the vaccine and is now living in constant pain, similar in nature to fibro myalgia. It took about six months for the symptoms to manifest fully. They start out like a case of the flu, recurring over and over with shorter lag times of recovery.

She was vaccinated at Kaiser. In general, I have great praise for the medical service we have received from Kaiser. But in this case, the doctors would not believe my daughter because there are no physical symptoms to explain her pain. We will be joining the class action suit.

Mistakes happen. Every industry has had instances of incompetence, malfeasance, and corruption. The FDA has done some incredibly important things for our society and the good of the American people. Doctors who are involved in vaccine creation are the most qualified to determine effectiveness and efficacy of vaccines. Doctors are human and can make mistakes, learn from their mistakes, and change their mind.

The issue at hand is well stated in the article. It is not anti-vaccine in general. It is very specific. If you don’t believe these things are happening, then you are self deluding and foolish. The science against the vaccine is coming out.

Heads must roll, and the company must take responsibility for the harm it has caused.

  • HMR_in_SV

My daughter was a heathy and active girl who wanted to be a model. She developed flu like symptoms that evolved into something like fibromyalgia and is in constant pain. She missed so much school that we had to pull her out so she wouldn’t become a delinquent. She can’t sit in a chair for an hour of class. The doctors can’t identify what is wrong, but her future plans are now dashed, and we are very worried for her. At least she is alive!

We will be joining the class action against the drug manufacturer.

  • Deana Bossio

Two things we need to do: 1) Maintain vaccines as a choice. 2) Educate with the truth. You’ll never close down the FDA or the CDC and we’ll never stop the trail of kickbacks and greed. Well, now that I think about it David did slay Goliath. So PRAYER is our biggest weapon. Praise Jesus.

For about the one-millionth time, please stop sharing this article, which has been showing up on numerous different sites and written by Sarah Cain,, who talks about
the lead researcher “coming clean” about Gardasil. It is full of misinformation, and in the long run can cause great harm to those of us who question the safety of this vaccine. I am the newspaper reporter that Diane
Harper initially made the sleep comment to, in an interview I did with her in March 2007, and then it was in a totally different context with different wording. The truth is the author of this article, Sarah Cain, has taken snippets of news articles that have been published over the years by various writers in an attempt to make her work look “new,” and by so doing has done us all a disservice because some of the information is now either incorrect or out of
    context, like the sleep comment.

I also was the journalist moderator at the 2009 conference, and I assure you that Diane Harper said absolutely ZERO about sleeping at night at that
conference. Her presentation was incredibly clear and informational, and it was something that every single person even remotely connected with this vaccine
should have heard, whether you are medical professionals or victims of the vaccine’s side effects. It was impeccably done and has been sadly misreported
around the world. Also, Dr. Harper was ONE of SEVERAL lead researchers for this vaccine, not the sole lead researcher. It’s a tiny nuance but it becomes big to
people who will pick at any little thing to make those of us who don’t trust this vaccine to look like nincompoops.

And for those who criticize Dr. Harper–she has stood behind this vaccine being totally voluntary, not mandatory, from the start. She’s pulled no punches in explaining over and over again that this is NOT a cancer vaccine. It is a
vaccine that protects against two HPVs that can cause about 70 percent of cervical cancers, IF the infection
does not heal on its own as 90 percent will, and IF the infection is allowed to persist for a very long time. Dr.
Harper is a heroine who laid her entire life’s career on the line to tell the truth about what this vaccine is and is not, so please don’t blame her for what most people are getting wrong when it comes to the facts. The fact is she TRIED to get her story out even before I did my story with her in March 2007, when she went on the record with me, calling the mandating of this vaccine for young girls a “Big Public Health Experiment.” I asked her at that time why she was talking to me rather than major media, and she revealed that she HAD told the major media, including CBS, which had interviewed her in the fall of 2006. But the TV station had edited out the comments that I chose to go ahead and print, and she was distressed that no one but me would listen! Her sleep comment came after the 2007 interview was over, when I called her back to clarify a question from one of my editors.

When I got off the phone with her after our first conversation, I excitedly told the night editor what she’d said, and asked him if they couldn’t make a space for my story the next day, instead of holding it for the Sunday edition, when it was initially planned. But the editor responded, “Why would she tell you this? Why would she risk everything to let you print something like that?” Well, it was a good question, so I called her back and asked her why she was risking everything by calling this vaccine a big public health experiment, and her response was, “Because when I go to bed tonight I want to be able to sleep with myself.” And then she added, “It’s still a good
vaccine, but don’t overpromise.” I printed that question and answer, and the story came out the next day. And ever since, so-called “reporters” like Sarah Cain have been rewriting my articles and Dr. Harper’s comments to
the point that it’s totally out of context.

As far as the 2009 NVIC conference goes, I have a copy of Dr. Harper’s PowerPoint presentation, complete with all her notes, lest you think I may be forgetting something she may or may not have said there. And, as far as efficacy of this vaccine goes, as Dr. Harper explained at the NVIC conference, you can still get cervical cancer from the other 30 percent of HPVs that are not covered by the vaccine. And, the vaccine doesn’t work if you’re already positive for those HPVs that it does cover.

There is so much misinformation about this vaccine and what Dr. Harper did and did not say in the first years after the vaccine was introduced that it would be impossible to clear it all up here. But the bottom line is, this article does not contain original material, and has taken Dr. Harper’s comments out of context, so please don’t let Sarah Cain be a vehicle for you spreading misinformation.

Also, when it comes to adverse reactions, no matter how much the CDC brushes it off, or for those who don’t believe this vaccine or others cause injury, the truth
is the HPV vaccines have thousands of reports connected with them to VAERS, including dozens of deaths. If the Sarah Cain had REALLY been at the 2009 NVIC conference, then her big news would have been about Dr. Harper discussed her personal concerns about the VAERS reports. She acknowledged that there ARE valid concerns about Gardasil in VAERS, and admitted that
vaccine injury most certainly DOES happen. She also encouraged people to push for reform on how placebos are used in clinical trials/

As far as Sarah Cain goes, in a nutshell, while some of her information is correct, she is absolutely WRONG in telling you that Dr. Harper “came clean” at the conference and told people she wanted to sleep at night. For that reason, I’m asking people to stop sharing this article by a writer who obviously was not at the conference, and who obviously has never interviewed Dr. Harper herself.

The reason this is important is because if you’re even a little bit wrong on the issue of vaccines, the gung-ho,
pro-vaccine people will rip you to shreds. A little wrong information, even when it’s presented as a good intention, goes further to destroy credibility than simply being totally wrong on every point.

I saw this article, it caught my eye because I have received all three shots. I carefully read the article, and carefully read each of your responses. I have had no side effects, and no problems as of yet. I must have gotten the shots 4-5 years ago. I am familiar with illness because my mother has been ill my entire life. So I wouldn’t say I am completely ignorant to cause and effect based off of vaccines such as this. Reading this has obviously made me a little scared, but I also believe in the healing power of God. But take a look at your doctors transcripts, seriously. If your doctor has good transcripts, and you are familiar with your doctor and how they practice medicine, then talk to them directly about the issue. I found this link, I wouldn’t say this source is completely unbiased but, nonetheless interesting: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/quora/how-accurate-are-the-rece_b_4164056.html

  • Tiffany Currier

Also- I just wanted to add, the numbers that are represented in this so called accurate article that started this entire forum-compared to the claims made here in this forum, where people claim that their health issues are directly caused by this vaccine… Are these the people reported in the numbers we see supposedly reported? Because if so, then I believe the numbers represented in this would be higher. So these people’s claims are unreported. Would you blame this vaccine if you never even read this article? Talk to your doctor directly. Don’t take advice from a forum like this as your legitimate medical advice. I don’t think many of us are doctors.

    • HMR_in_SV

My daughter is a victim of the rare side effects of the vaccine. She now lives with constant pain. It took us months of research to understand the cause of her disability, including numerous work ups with medical specialists. We had not read this particular article, which is full of misrepresentations and context errors. But, that is condemning the writing, not the fundamental facts stated in the piece. Elsewhere in this comment chain you will find a response from the reporter who actually attended the conference and interviewed Dr. Harper. Please read it.

If we had been warned of the potential side effects, we would not have allowed my little girl to get the vaccine. We need ccuracy in reporting as well as follow up n the science. But, we now have enough reported evidence of the potential hazard that this should be either pulled from the market or at least no longer be mandatory.

  • Paul M

Anaphylactic shock? GBS? These are real ways people die following vaccination. And they are scary and awful. People also die from antibiotics at times. It doesn’t mean we stop using them in general. To my knowledge, unless it was secondary to another related condition, the HPV vaccines have not been causally linked to any deaths. This goes back to the same point as above. I am sorry for your loss, but making false accusations against a drug that can save lives is irresponsible.

  • Ben Toros

Merck is aggressively marketing this and over-inflating the dangers of HPV… but at least one claim made by Dr Harper in this article is equally over-inflated… “So far, 15,037 girls have reported adverse side effects from Gardasil alone to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.” Dr Slade’s JAMA survey (quoted in the above article) says the “incidence of adverse events following immunization was similar in the vaccine group (59%) and the placebo group (60%).” http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=184421

  • Gary Reid

I’m always amazed how people totally believe whatever Snopes has to say about something, as if they are God or something. Anyone can be bought off or make mistakes or provide false information. Snopes is no different. Bottom line is that whenever there is huge money to be made by a large corporation, the public’s health doesn’t matter. All these large corporations have killed thousands of people in the name of money and gotten away with it. Vioxx is one prime example. Bayer, BASF, Monsanto, Merck, they all have done it in the past, and yet not one person has gone to jail for it. Sure they pay their $100M fine for it, but they just raked in $500M, so it was a profitable venture. Wake up sheeple. If your local doctor had a track record of misdiagnosing 25% of his patients and having a certain percentage of them die, would you take his advice? probably not, Yet the same people keep on trusting the drug companies who have that same kind of record! Now that’s insanity.

  • pianoman

This story is a complete fabrication. It should be illegal to post lies like.

  • HMR_in_SV

There are many more victims unreported than your figures account for. The side effects while rare are very real. My daughter is one of the victims and we will be joining a class action against the manufacturer. The cancer this is supposed to prevent, which it is only effective for 70% IF the HPV doesn’t self destruct as if does in 90% of infections in the first two years, is treatable and curable when caught early.

There is tremendous financial burden to our Medical System transferring Billions of dollars to the manufacturer all in the name of preventing a curable disease without regard for the potential risk of the vaccine. This is bad public policy, disasterous to the lives of the young female victims (including deaths), unnecessary use of financial resources by the public, and bad science. Is it a conspiracy or a cover up? I don’t know. That will depend on understanding the convictions and knowledge of those involved in this mandate. Personally, I don’t care. I just want to stop more girls ruining their lives due to this horrendous policy.

    • Phil Braica

What I don’t like is you need 3 doses, and the study shows increasing effectiveness per dose, but most people aren’t getting all 3. Like many vaccines, it reduces the existence of the threat if most people are vaccinated. IE: if 50% come in contact with something and 20% if they come in contact get it and 10% have a problem that’s bad. if a vaccine cuts that down such that <1% come in contact and then of that 1%,… then the vaccine makes more sense. I'm not sure this one makes sense, perhaps if the vaccine was more effective or everyone got it. Even if it's a …. 0.0035% risk or something like that, there is still only a tiny possible preventative of < 3%.

Everything in this article has been debunked. Dr. Harper gave that speech in 2009 and to this day fully supports the use of these vaccines. Furthermore, shewsn’t a lead researcher, in fact, she played no role in the development of Guardasil. What she did was organize the clinical trials, making sure they complied with federal standards, had enough participants and was conducted in a scientific maner. Not one of the supposed 44 deaths attributed to the vaccines is documented, they never happened and the adverse side effects have not difinitively, or even kind of, been scientifically linked to the vaccines. This article is full of misquotes, misinterpritations, assumptions not based on any facts and plain old lies.

I have a question- the article said seizures, but does not specify what type. My daughter started having “tics” andhas been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. I’m just wondering if there could be any correlation between her having the vaccine and the subsequent onset of symptoms. Does anyone know if they could be connected?

  • IKnewitwasjustaboutmoneymaking

Well not only do we need to have the FDA involved but I had to find a new doctor for my daughter to see because after I refused the vaccine to be administered to her at 12 the doctor refused to keep her as a patient!!!! I am glad I stood my ground and found a new doctor!!!

  • Haywood Jablome Goodde

Pretty much says it all 1/30,000 chance of disability or death from the shot. Unless your lifestyle puts you at greater risk for harm, then the shot is not for you.

My heart breaks when I saw Brittney’s video! As a parent I did have my daughter and son vaccinated even after checking with my doctors who told me there were no side effects. Thankfully both of my children are okay. I recently got involved with an all natural products company and never really noticed, until now, all of the side effects to so many pharmaceuticals. When you watch a commercial and listen it makes you sick just thinking and wondering WHY are they on the market. $$$ I am sure the family has tried everything possible to help but if i could, I would suggest taking a good Q-Probiotic and Q-Natural Detox. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

    • HMR_in_SV

If you read the attached comments, you will find a response from the reporter who did the original interview with Dr. Harper. You will also learn that there is ample evidence as to the risk and harm that THIS vaccine can cause.

My daughter is a victim of this vaccine and I am very pro vaccine in general. THIS vaccine is unnecessary, does not real good (early detection will allow treatment of the cancer that MAY be connected to HPV infection should the infection not self destruct as it does in 90+% of infections in two years), and is nothing more than a transfer of wealth to the company that makes and promotes the vaccine.

Open your eyes and close your mouth. The harm this has caused is not funny and very very real.

      • Davis

Sure it is…..to characterize the good doctor’s comments as “This is harmful” is dishonest. She simply said it is unnecessary given the vaccines length of efficacy, espc when given to young children. That is completely different than saying “this vaccine causes harm”. Being unnecessary and being harmful are two different things. Also, the doctor has explicitly stated in follow-up interviews that she has constantly been misquoted. This article is simply a rehashing of the same garbage from 2009.

This article is ridiculous! There are a lot of quoted statements, but not one single quote from Dr. Harper herself. This is all paraphrased and mis-quoted from Sarah Cain and others who have already drank the kool-aid and joined the anti-vaccine movement. There is no rational or logical process here… just a bunch of believers who already subscribe to preparing for doomsday (based on the ads that litter this website). Someone, please, go read the actual research and statements from Dr. Harper. I speculate this article appeals to only to those right-wing, religious, under-educated folks whose true motivation is the belief that vaccinating girls for HPVwill somehow cause them to want to have sex before marriage. Because in their minds, nobody want to have sex naturally before marriage – those who do must have been injected with an evil vaccine that sparked their sexuality. Ridiculous.

Try expanding your mind a little bit here: Bayer gets caught. Congress loves to get re-elected. Bayer demands their public rep. not be tarnished. Congress investigates Bayer …secretly (i.e. not media notification & penalties for those who report on it). Bayer now carries on w/business as usual (of course w/ a fraction of their holdings worth in a “fine”) while funding & donating to Congressional candidates via money “channels”. GET THE PICTURE NOW, IDIOT???

    • Tyler Martin

Wow! You are very convincing in your argument! In no way do I now believe that you are a whack-job conspiracy theorist that does not contribute to society in any meaningful way! I can tell that you have definitely expanded your own mind through careful research of reputable sources! I am 100% sure that the expansion of your mind has in no way involved illicit substances! More people should follow your example, and if more people did, I am sure that our country, nay our society, or even possibly mankind as a whole would leap forward on the path to a utopia! It would not possibly create a society built upon distrust and psychotic theories that would start revolutions that causing the world to regress as the leaps and bounds of progress humanity has made in the past ten-millennia are erased into a dystopian state of humanity!

It’s a difficult position to be in. Because of the insanity on both sides muddying the information on this vaccine. We have anti-science anti-vaccine idiots against vaccines in general, and then we have the pro HPV Vaccine people who refuse to consider the data, statistics of both reported (and unreported) side effects as well as the tiny if any direct relationship to cancer, the inordinate cost to the medical system imposed by this mandate and the public that pays that bill, and the social costs. They refuse to compare the living tragedy of the bad side effects with the consequences of the treat-ability of the cancer.

We were with Kaiser. In general, I love Kaiser. Both of our children were born at Kaiser, and both my wife and I have had excellent surgeries there. But, they wouldn’t believe my daughter and test were not showing anything. They didn’t believe there were possible side effects, and they don’t know what to test for.

    • Kate

as someone living with HPV and the effects of it I wish the vaccine was around when I was younger. I would rather have some side effects (if that is even true) than the terrible effects I get from HPV. I’m really sick of men talking about an issue they know nothing about and women and girls who claim they are sick from a vaccine when in many cases it has been proven that these girls had other underlying health issues that made them sick and not the vaccine. There also are a lot of Pro-Life women who take opportunities to post falsehoods about this vaccine making girls sick because they believe the vaccine is all related to sexual promiscuity. When in fact kids are already vaccinated for Hepatitis and you get that by sexual contact as well. Another thing these people should wake up to is the fact that HPV is spread largely by men and a lot of men don’t know they have it, because they don’t have outward symptoms. So later on a non promiscuous woman can marry a man who gives her cancer strains of HPV to her later on!!!! Also, my aunt died of cervical cancer and it isn’t so easy to treat as you make it sound. A woman gets a pap smear once a year at best, and even when a cancer is found a year has gone by for that cancer to grow. It is in no way as easy to treat as breast cancer. When someone has cervical cancer they start off getting cramps and a bloated abdomen, which is something normal for women so they aren’t going to be alarmed about it until the pain becomes unbearable and sends them to the ER. By that time it’s a 50/50 shot to survive.

      • Voter

Even if the vaccine had been around when you were younger, you would have had no guarantee that you wouldn’t get cervical cancer. This vaccine protects against only two (soon to be more) HPVs that can lead to cervical cancer if they progress to CIN I, II or III and are left untreated. That’s why you still have to get Pap smears even if you’re vaccinated. And, like the pro-vaccine people themselves say, just being vaccinated doesn’t guarantee immunity because vaccines can, and do fail. Just take a look at all the fully vaccinated kids with whooping cough if you need an example.

  • HMR_in_SV

(Continuing… ) We have gone outside the system to various specialists looking for relief for our daughter. The only thing that helps her is chiropractic adjustment to relieve her pain. Most medicine doesn’t relieve her, and she is very depressed and demoralized.

This is a very real trauma, regardless of what the fools on this discussion thread say. The symptoms you are reporting in your post are similar to those other victims have posted as well as my daughter in the early days. I suggest that you push your medical provider to record what is happening to your daughter, get every test they are willing to do. Document everything. Take pictures. Also, get her to build up her strength and take supplements for her immune system.

I really hope that if she is having a side effect that it stays mild.

For those of you who are on the fence, or want to see that the science for this vaccination is checked, I would like to point out that there are other technologically advanced nations besides the United States. In Japan, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare has withdrawn its HPV Vaccine recommendation for Girls as of June 2013 while they investigate the issue. There reason? “The focus of the Japanese inquiry is not on injection-site reactions; instead, it is on systemic reactions.” (See http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/806645, it has a free logon for medical information.)

  • Chris

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Harper

Diane Harper has aligned herself with several different anti-vaccine (as in, all vaccines) groups. I see no good reason to trust this, especially given the fact that no solid, non correlative evidence is given.

  • Chris

And DIane Harper is NOT the “Lead Developer” of this. Not at all. She never even identifies herself as such. ALL she did is coordinate clinical trials of it. She had nothing to do with the development of it.

That lie alone should be enough to deter you from this, and if you don’t listen to that bit of wisdom, then good luck with whatever comes your way.

  • Chris

No it isn’t. This is a bunch of crap.

Try this if you still think that. Look up Dr Harper. Every legitimate thing you find about her will not list her as the lead developer of this. The only source stating a blatant lie is this article.

Hey, what a coincidence. I had the shot, and now I have arthritis, lupis (which I hear is all the rage now-a-days), heart disease, brain cancer, AIDS, and I seem to have grown fangs and I am worried I am becoming a vampire.

  • Mj47

I sincerely hope your daughter starts feeling better soon. I received the first shot going into my third year of college (I finally caved at that point). I never went back for the 2nd or 3rd shot. The first couple of months that semester were just awful. I’m a very upbeat person and just carry on if not feeling well. However I felt so bad some days (stiff, achy, and swollen joints, in a daze I couldn’t seem to get out of, etc.) that I just wanted to cry. I even started keeping a daily journal of my activities, what I ate, amount of sleep I got, and how I felt to take back to my doctor. I went to school 8 hours from home and my mysterious symptoms eventually went away before I made it home at Thanksgiving to see my doctor. I never reported how I felt, but I was almost certain it was from that first shot and I will never get an HPV vaccine again (and I’m very pro vaccine). After telling my mother how I was feeling she saw a documentary about the vaccine and that not all the adverse effects or long term consequences were known. I truly believe if I had continued on with the full series of shots I would have been much worse. Best wishes to your daughter and I hope in the near future her symptoms will disappear.

In many ways you are right. However, this is a real problem as it has been reported in real news sources. While this writer gets many things wrong, the problem is quite real, and alarming. For example, Japan has ceased recommending the vaccines because of public concern and the data/statistics that supports that concern.

It is interesting that these people when employed Merck and making money had no problems with the drug. Also, they are not “whistle blowers”. They are money hungry with the law suits and books and know they can’t prove what they say so they do not go through any state or Fed “whistle blower” procedures… Why? Because they can be charged for the false statements. Just ask them to do the actual Federal procedure that would PROTECT them from being fired or retaliated against and they run, when they have to answer for false accusations they will disappear!

Nobody forced you to sign the paper that you UNDERSTOOD the risks and benefits of the drug so don’t claim you did not know! You may not have cared enough to read the warnings but don’t act stupid now! ALL drugs have some bad interactions….hello….people DIE from peanuts and bee stings. You would rather be one of the “treatable” cancer patients. Treatable means they can “treat” it, NOT always cure it!!!! DO YOU WANT CANCER?

  • Tyler Martin

Wow, what a pathetic excuse for journalism. Yet another sensationalistic article given a title intended to scare you into clicking on it and inflating the websites viewership statistics. If you happened to actually take the time to read the sources, you first might notice how some of them are blatantly plagiarized. The next thing you might notice is how the author(s) of this article (the one(s) who decided to stay anonymous – a very clear indication that this article is not something they want to be associated with) spun the information taken from the sources to support the article’s own claims. Many quotes are taken out of context, which only furthers the article’s lack of credibility.

Also, the author(s) use sources that sound official such as the “National Vaccine Information Center” to namedrop and make their argument seem like it is quoting a renowned or respected group. In reality, however, the NVIC is an anti-vaccination advocacy group that was founded in 1982 by parents who blamed routine vaccination for the illness or death of a child. The NVIC, in fact, is not a scientific group at all, it instead relies on anecdotal evidence and scare-tactics to spread its message. The NVIC has even drawn criticism from well-respected organizations, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Institute for Science in Medicine, for endangering the lives of thousands of children. If you want to educate yourself further, I suggest reading the Wikipedia article (which cites many credible sources) about the NVIC at this web-address: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Vaccine_Information_Center.

I guess I should have expected that from a website with the name, ‘The Daily Sheeple’. This almost-comical “news” website is obviously run by conspiracy nut-jobs who wish to manipulate the easily-impressionable portion of the public who trust anything they read on a “news” website. If that does not strike you as ironic (the fact that the ones running this website, a website that suggests that those who believe the mainstream news are “sheeple,” or people who follow a leader blindly without questioning, are themselves manipulating people to follow them blindly) then you truly deserve whatever happens to you when you believe these lunatics.

Instead of blindly believing what ANY news website says, please take the time to educate yourself on the matter; look at the sources, read differing viewpoints on the subject matter, take everything with a grain of salt. What you should not do is trust ANY news agency until you have personally verified their sources and fact-checked their information.

Thank you to anyone who has read this all the way through and taken this advice seriously.

    • HMR_in_SV

Much of what you say is true, especially about this site and the article. However, the problem is a very real problem as reported in legitimate news sources and in the medical circles. For example, in June 2013, Japan ceased supporting the vaccines and has told its medical community to stop recommending them until further data can resolve the enormous downside risk associated with them.

I keep responding here be ause it is a serious issue of science that has been high jacked by reactionaries on both sides as well as so-called news sites like this one.

I will love the day when big pharma has no credibility left! 99% of the medicine we need can be found in nature. 99% of staying healthy comes from the food we eat & exercise! Dr.’s should be prescribing all natural remedies & prescribing food, Not PILLS! All pharma cares about is money! Flu vaccines are a scam also, look it up! It amazes me that people so easily trust strangers with medications, food & all the other things we have so easily put in the hands of others that we don’t even know! You can barely trust people you do know let alone trust strangers with vaccines your going to give to your child? Right!

This is the way most vaccines work or can be designed to work esp when they put them all in one because the body just can’t handle being hit by all those illnesses it gets so it can kill or heat em up enough to cause slight brain damage. This Is Pretty Common Sense stuff. I think some of them have stealth cancer cells in them that give you a higher chance of getting it.

It’s about time some of these doctors and researchers spoke up, even if it’s just so they “can sleep at night”. This vaccine has been destroying lives since the beginning. Even with the side effects girls were experiencing, they went ahead and started marketing it to young boys. I have been researching vaccines for 15-20 years, and there is NO evidence they even work. There is plenty of evidence they are full of harmful viruses and neurotoxins.

of cases it clears itself. But in those cases where it doesn’t, and
isn’t treated, it can lead to pre-cancerous cells which may develop into
cervical cancer.” That is the doctor’s voracious “debunking” quoted by
this article. Hardly contentious at all. The rest all comes from
    anti-vaccine parties.

    2)
This is saying 15,000 girls have had “adverse” effects TOTAL from the
vaccine since 2006 when it was started. According to the CDC, 94% were
non-serious (meaning RASHES, RUNNY NOSES and MUSCLE ACHES), the
remainder (6% or 900) were serious, mostly ALLERGIC REACTIONS (not death
or mental retardation or paralysis) aka you have more risk of a
“serious reaction” by eating a peanut butter sandwich…..

    3)
In the first 2 years, 16 million doses were distributed (so assuming
the same rate up until 2014) thats 64 million doses given. Meaning
“serious” events have happened in 0.001% of people. Thats like one one
thousandth of a percent chance of anything happening to you from this
shot. At that rate just dont leave your house EVER. if you cant take
    those odds

    4)
Meanwhile, 11,800 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year.
thats 94,400 women since the the start of this vaccine. 3,900 DIE each
    year. 31,200 since 2006.

    5) In 8 years 34x more women have DIED of cancer than people who have had “reactions” to this vaccine.

    6)
Also, the only reason why cervical cancer is “RARE” is because we have
pap smears in the US and catch it early. On a world wide scale there are
233,000 deaths per year (1.8 million in 8 years or 2000x the vaccine
    scare bullshit numbers)

    7)
With 16 million doses given, “serious adverse events” and some deaths
will happen to people during the time period following their vaccinations
by CHANCE alone… If I get a shot then walk outside and trip, the vaccine
didn’t CAUSE it. Same thing if you catch some bug at the grocery store
that day and end up getting sick.

    Lord help these people.

That is not true; it takes many years to correlate enough people and lawyers to take on a pharmaceutical company. Feel free to look up the results of phen-phen or vioxx or any other medicine pulled off the market. The fda has knowledge of these issues but leaves it on the market anyway. Most people are naive enough to believe that these issues are resolved immediately like this but unfortunately it is that ignorance which allows it to continue.

Go to a naturopathic doctor, and ask them to check her Thyroid, and her Adrenal glands. When I had an MMR vaccine as an adult, I developed Hashitmoto’s Thyroiditits which I later learned is listed as a possible side effect on the vaccine insert. I never signed consent for the vaccine, nor saw any kind of side effect list before letting the nurse stick me while I was still recovering from a C-Section in the hospital. I wish your daughter luck!

    • Ambrosia Rose

I’m R,N, and I was given a booster shot of MMR as well as a 3rd round of the Hep B vaccine because i had not “converted” (to showing i had immunity) as i started working at one particular hospital. I then began developing pancreatitis and also severe exhaustion, body aches and pains, joint swelling. They never could figure out what caused the pancreatitis, I do not drink alcohol nor do I use drugs, no one in my family has a history of it either. It was finally dubbed “auto-immune” pancreatitis. 2 years later I was still having bouts of it and also in so much pain throughout my whole body that I was no longer able to continue to work. My doctor tells me I have fibromyalgia. Which I don’t know if is true or not, there’s no test for that. It’s a process of ruling out other things til they get down to that diagnosis. Thing is I never really put the vaccinations and the sickness together until 2 years in. I went back and checked my attendance record and when I started missing a lot of days from work and it was about 3 weeks after the MMR and Hep B vaccine. Before then I was a happy, healthy vibrant woman in the prime of my life. Cannot prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the vaccines cause this but cannot rule it out any longer either.

72% of throat cancers in male patients (2002 – 2004) were HPV positive, with one of the four strains this vaccination covers. It is true that most HPV clears on it’s own. Because 90% of HPV infections are the much less hazardous strains. The two strains that cause genital warts and the two strains that cause cervical and throat cancer are very rarely cleared from the system naturally.
Please research before you share this article. Fear-mongering is not the way to go. The benefits of this vaccine so greatly outweigh the risks. Everything in life comes with risk, though you should ALWAYS notify your doctor or reconsider a vaccine if you have had adverse reactions in the past to any components of the vaccine or have a physiological disorder that should be considered before administration.
I am HPV positive for one of the strains that causes genital warts, and I am already at a high risk for cancer based on family history alone. I got my second shot in the series last month, and the vaccine has actually done me a lot of good. I have an autoimmune disorder that is much relieved when my body has a perceived threat to fight besides my own cells.
Basically, please learn to science before you talk about how dangerous a vaccine is.

Okay so all these people are posting about how the shot affected them. Really? How do you know that the shot was what caused the issues. Even if the shots did cause the issues that is the risk you take with all vaccines. Every single vaccine and medication has a huge list of possible side affects. It is the risk you take. You do not have to have this vaccine. Personally I have had all three shots and nothing is wrong with me at all. My siblings have gotten the shots too and they have no issues. The majority of people do not have issues these shots.

  • http://www.usliberty.org/ Resident of the Unit

From the gardasil site regarding hpv:

“There are about 30 to 40 types of HPV that can affect the genital area. And, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), there are about 6 million new cases of genital HPV infections* in the United States each year. It is estimated 74% of them occur in 15 to
    24 year olds.

“For most, HPV clears on its own.

“But, for others who don’t clear certain types, HPV could cause significant consequences: cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers in females. Other types could cause genital warts in both males and females. And there’s no way to predict who will or won’t clear the virus.”

    CDC Website:
Who should get this HPV vaccine and when?

HPV vaccine is given as a 3-dose series

    1st Dose – Now

    2nd Dose – 1 to 2 months after Dose 1

    3rd Dose – 6 months after Dose 1

Additional (booster) doses are not recommended

    Routine vaccination

This HPV vaccine is recommended for girls and boys 11 or 12 years of age. It may be given starting at age 9.

Why is HPV vaccine recommended at 11 or 12 years of age?

HPV infection is easily acquired, even with only one sex partner. That is why it is important to get HPV vaccine before any sexual contact takes place. Also, response to the vaccine is better at
this age than at older ages.

    Catch-up vaccination:
This vaccine is recommended for the following people who have not completed the 3-dose series:

Females 13 through 26 years of age.

Males 13 through 21 years of age.

This vaccine may be given to men 22 through 26 years of age who have not completed the 3-dose series.

It is recommended for men through age 26 who
have sex with men or whose immune system is weakened because of HIV infection, other illness, or medications.

HPV vaccine may be given at the same time as other vaccines.

    also (risks): CDC website

This HPV vaccine has been used in the U.S. and around the world for about six years and has been very safe.

However, any medicine could possibly cause a serious problem, such as a severe allergic reaction. The risk of any vaccine causing a serious injury, or death, is extremely small.

Life-threatening allergic reactions from vaccines are very rare. If they do occur, it would be within a few minutes to a few hours after the vaccination.

Several mild to moderate problems are known to occur with this HPV vaccine. These do not last long and go away on their own.

Reactions in the arm where the shot was given:

Pain (about 8 people in 10)

Redness or swelling (about 1 person in 4)

    Fever:

    Mild (100° F) (about 1 person in 10)

    Moderate (102° F) (about 1 person in 65)

Headache (about 1 person in 3)

Fainting: Brief fainting spells and related
symptoms (such as jerking movements) can happen after any medical procedure, including vaccination. Sitting or lying down for about 15 minutes after a vaccination can help prevent fainting and injuries caused by falls. Tell your doctor if the patient feels dizzy or light-headed, or has vision changes or ringing in the ears.

Like all vaccines, HPV vaccines will continue to be monitored for unusual or severe problems.
    *
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) is a federal program that was created to compensate people who may have been injured by certain vaccines.

Persons who believe they may have been injured by a vaccine can learn about the program and about filing a claim by calling 1-800-338-2382 or visiting the VICP website.

These drugs (vaccines) are overused in the US.

“For most, HPV clears on its own.”

It is articles like this that make it difficult for the real science to be examined. As you say, it is extremely full of holes. So, let’s instead look at facts:

I am not, nor have I ever claimed that the vaccine is not effective. I am stating that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that it is the probable cause of my daughter’s condition. After many batteries of tests at Kaiser, we can surmise that the cause of her condition, following the vaccination is one of 3 things:
    (1) Psychosomatic (which one doctor preferred);
    (2) The HPV vaccine’s side effects as noted in the report quoted below; or,
    (3) “We don’t know.”

Taking “We don’t know” over a likely candidate is the same as taking faith healing over medicine. Sure, we can’t eliminate every possible cause, but the doctors did eliminated everything they could test for.

So, let’s look at the facts associated with the vaccine by quoting some important and extremely reputable sources:

    http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/HPV
“High-risk HPV infection accounts for approximately 5 percent of all cancers worldwide. However, most high-risk HPV infections occur without any symptoms, go away within 1 to 2 years, and do not cause cancer. These transient infections may cause cytologic abnormalities, or abnormal cell changes, that go away on their own.”

“HPV infections can be detected by testing a sample of cells to see if they contain viral DNA or RNA.”

“Theoretically, the HPV DNA and RNA tests could be used to identify HPV infections in cells taken from any part of the body. However, the tests are approved by the FDA for only two indications: for follow-up testing of women who seem to have abnormal Pap test results and for cervical cancer screening in combination with a Pap test among women over age 30.”

“Researchers believe that it can take between 10 and 20 years from the time of an initial HPV infection until a tumor forms. However, even high-grade lesions do not always lead to cancer. The percentage of high-grade cervical lesions that progress to invasive cervical cancer has been estimated to be 50 percent or less.”

As to the safety of the vaccine, let’s look at the report http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19690307
[Terms used: Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS); adverse events following immunization (AEFIs)]

The summary covers the period from June 1, 2006, through December 31, 2008.

“VAERS received 12,424 reports of AEFIs following qHPV distribution, a rate of 53.9 reports per 100,000 doses distributed. A total of 772 reports (6.2% of all reports) described serious AEFIs, including 32 reports of death. The reporting rates per 100,000 qHPV doses distributed were 8.2 for syncope; 7.5 for local site reactions; 6.8 for dizziness; 5.0 for nausea; 4.1 for headache; 3.1 for hypersensitivity reactions; 2.6 for urticaria; 0.2 for venous thromboembolic events, autoimmune disorders, and Guillain-Barré syndrome; 0.1 for anaphylaxis and death; 0.04 for transverse myelitis and pancreatitis; and 0.009 for motor neuron disease. Disproportional reporting of syncope and venous thromboembolic events was noted with data mining methods.”

This was only a two year period in the U.S. alone. It is unclear as to the age of the female population that reported AEFIs, but the vaccine is only effective with uninfected girls, which means before sexual activity. Hence, the recommendation for vaccinating girls 11-12.

We can not deny this evidence. But, the economic harm is significantly disproportionate to the value of this as a proposed cure for cervical cancer (the vaccine is not claimed to cure other forms of cancer, though there is specifically well understood relationships with throat and other cancers). Consider the loss of quality of life at such a young age, as my own daughter is experiencing, and the fact that most of the serious reactions have no cure, but effects remain for the lifetime of the victim. Furthermore, we don’t know how many unreported incidents during this same period as most of the apparent symptoms occur up to six months after the third shot, as happened with my daughter. (It took me a very long time to eliminate everything else, to come to the conclusion that what we seeing in her disability was related to the vaccine. My wife thought of it first, finding much of the less than great medical discussions about it. I followed up with significant research and analysis being a mathematically trained business executive in the Silicon Valley working with cutting edge technology and their adoption issues.)

Hence, a child who has an AEFI may find themselves unable to attend school, follow their dreams, have successful careers, etc. This is catastrophic in a financial analysis to a subset of this generation.

One can hide behind the view that since we don’t know for sure, it can’t be the vaccine. But, that is the same attitude that prevented research into Agent Orange and its devastating effects on Viet Nam veterans. It is the same ignorance that prevented the banning of lead additives in gasoline until Senator Muskie took the information from the scientist who fought the gasoline industry (the guy who invented the Clean Room). My hope here is that this will educate you and others enough to consider the possibility and then examine the value proposition associated with the multibillion dollar HPV vaccines, despite articles like this one.

There is zero reasons to argue against a vaccine or anything that involves money or power on a public forum. It has been proven many times and even most recently by the NSA leaks. Large corporations and governments have paid shills that are meant to discredit and direct conversations in discussion. You can bet your life that merck has people on payroll who scour search engines with fake personas to ensure the conversation is how they want it. For example look at skeptical raptor. The use of straw man is very common technique. The attacks on intelligence to make it appear you have no clue so shouldn’t be listened too. If he isn’t a shill then he is doing the job of one and not getting paid. Either way when you argue but with no facts then you are transparent and should never be acknowledged.

My daughter was 15 when she received her first and only dose of Gardasil. After being given the vaccine we left the room and went to the check out desk. While standing there she told me she didn’t feel well and then became unresponsive before passing out completely! She had NEVER passed out prior to this! The staff in the dr’s office were so alarmed that they called 911! An hour or so later after being checked by EMT’s we were released to go home. I immediately got on the computer upon returning home to research this vaccine (which I should have done before allowing her to receive it) but I trusted the dr and he said she needed it so I allowed it. I was APPALLED by what I read! She never received the booster and her younger sister never got any of them either!

Seem to always be stuck between a rock and a hard place as a parent having to make these decisions and such. We are put into these predicaments and we can only do our best. I have two boys and the boys are also offered the same shots as well. So I know it’s a hard decision to make. We can only do what we can to make the decisions we can that we feel is right at the time because the information from their pediatric dr says its right. So in all fairness… We listen because we love our babies. So we want them as healthy and as well a possible. As the saying goes… They don’t come with an instruction book. Did nobody notice that the table of adverse effects stats included males? This is supposed to be a vaccine for girls only so why are they being given to men. Also if it has clearly been stated that this vaccine was only tested in the trials on girls age 15 and older why are we giving this to younger children and how many of the adverse reactions stats are those that are younger than 15? I think more needs to be looked into with that regards.

THIS is not the ONLY doctor who is WHISTLE BLOWING. Dr. Williams who is a scientific developer at the CDC is reporting while still working there that the MMR vaccine has dozens of very dangerous devastating outcomes in children including crib deaths, a seriously heightened chance of developing AUTISM and in fact it increases the chances in little black babies by 300%. It also causes many other deadly and disabling problems and a whole slew of learning disabilities. AND he reports that the CDC has KNOWN about all these dangers for a DECADE. He proves it with gov. documents.

IN addition, the primary editor for the New England Journal of Medicine for the past 20 years just reported that their reports have been 98% slanted to favor RX companies for the past 20 years that she KNOWS of and they NEVER report the truth.

Why would you be on a DISCUSSION BOARD if you don’t care what other people type? That doesn’t make any sense. Go write an editorial article. A discussion board is for sharing ideas, not blaring your opinion and not listening to others. You amaze me with your ignorance of simple concepts like that.

          • peace angel

THIS IS A COMMENT AND POSTING PLACE—NOT A DISCUSSION BOARD. YOU AMAZE ME WITH IGNORANCE OF THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

I LIVED THE FIRST THREE DECADES OF MY LIFE ASKING QUESTIONS AND DOING RESEARCH AND DIGGING FOR THE TRUTH FROM LOTS OF PEOPLE OLDER AND WISER THAN I WAS. TODAY I STILL HAVE TONS OF VETTED PLACES TO GET THE TRUTH AND DO NOT NEED TO CHIT CHAT ABOUT STUPID STUFF LIKE YOU WANT TO DO.

THAT IS A CONCEPT I KNOW YOUR GEN. DOES NOT GET—LEARNING FROM THOSE WHO ARE OLDER AND WISER THAN YOU ARE.

BUT UNTIL AMERICA PRODUCED THE LEAST INQUISITIVE AND MOST DUMBED DOWN GENERATION KNOWN TO MANKIND THIS IS HOW ALL THE OTHER GENERATIONS DID IT.

CHILDREN WERE TO BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD AND NO ONE WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO TRY TO BE KNOW IT ALL’S AT 25 OR 35. THEY WERE STILL LEARNING FROM THEIR ELDERS. STILL RESEARCHING, LISTENING, CONTINUING EDUCATION AND GROWING FORWARD UNLIKE YOUR GEN. WHO BASICALLY GOT A HORRIBLE IF ANY EDUCATION AND WHO HAVE HAD THEIR PEA BRAINS IN IPODS FROM BIRTH AND SO,,, NONE OF YOU WILL EVER KNOW WHAT YOUR ELDERS ALREADY KNOW.

I HAVE BEEN WRITING FOR A LIVING FOR FOUR DECADES AND STILL DO. BUT THANK YOU FOR THE CAREER SUGGESTION. I WRITE FACTUAL UNDERGROUND PIECES AND NOT EDITORIALS.

BUT, I COME HERE TO SAVE LIVES AND WAKE PEOPLE UP AND TO TELL THEM TO GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY BECAUSE THE SHTF VERY, VERY SOON AND THERE IS NOT INTERNET SERVICE IN THE “RED ZONES” AND I COME HERE TO EDUCATE YOUR SLEEPING GENERATION.

AND, I HAVE TOLD YOU ALREADY====IF YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM ME BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO DO SOME OF YOUR OWN RESEARCH, THEN PLEASE, KEEP IT MOVIN’. BY ALL MEANS GO TO A DISCUSSION BOARD AND ARGUE BACK AND FORTH ABOUT NOTHING OF ANY SUBSTANCE. IT IS THE TRADEMARK OF YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE GENERATION.

THERE ARE LOTS OF OPEN FORUM SITES WHERE YOU CAN ARGUE ABOUT STUPID STUFF IN REAL TIME. THEY HAVE THOSE AND I AM NOT HERE TO SOCIALIZE. I DO THAT AT THE BEACH WHERE I LIVE.

THE SIMPLE CONCEPTS TAUGHT TO YOUR DUMBED DOWN SCHOOL BUDDIES AND YOU HAVE TAUGHT YOU NOT TO THINK FOR YOURSELF, NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS AND NOT TO KEEP LEARNING FROM THOSE OLDER AND WISER THAN YOU AND IT SHOWS. IT AMAZES ME ANYONE WOULD ACTUALLY READ THE VERY IMPORTANT CONTENT I BRING HERE AND NOT GO DO SOME RESEARCH. ALL OF YOU WOULD RATHER ARGUE, NAME CALL AND MAKE NONSENSICAL POLITICALLY CORRECT PREACHINGS TO THOSE YOU NEED TO LEARN FROM.

CARRY ON AND ENJOY THE CAMPS BUT DO NOT BOTHER ME. I AM BUSY SHARING HERE.

          • holoh

From Disqus.com: “As the web’s most popular discussion system, Disqus is used by millions of websites”. So, yeah, you are wrong. It’s a discussion system, not a “comment and posting place”.

TL;DR the rest of your post.

being “debunked” on snopes is like being sold ice by an eskimo in a snowstorm

        • holoh

That makes no sense. I would definitely buy ice from anyone in a snowstorm because last time I checked ice-cubes don’t fall from the sky during snowstorms – snow does. Also, why does this have anything to do with Inuit/Inupiat/Alaska Natives? Are you racist?

          • Justin OB

frozen h2o is frozen h2o whether its in cube for or snow form. maybe you should go eat a snowcone in an igloo with some inuits or in an ice fishing hut with some scandinavians. quit being a racist you racist

          • holoh

You are the one using racist terms to describe people, racist.

The surface area to mass ratio of snow is much too great to be used in everyday drinks. That is obvious by the fact that we use cube ice for drinks. High surface area to mass ratio ice certainly has applications such as snow cones (as you mention), but it isn’t used in normal drinks.

          • Justin OB

you are a dumb little brainwashed liberal arent you? everything is racist to you. i bet you think that the icecaps are going to melt and wash florida away. you should put some kool aid in the ice trays and drink it like an ESKIMO

They have – all vaccines. Because the people stupid enough to take them are going to die out, given vaccines are biowarfare agents to maim, kill, and render infertile. The future of this planet lies with people intelligent enough not to vaccinate themselves or their children.

  • Stacey Moffatt

I like how in update 2 they talk about the mmr vaccine not Gardisil. They are not the same thing……..
Very bad writing and editing, do you want to believe an article that can’t even remember the vaccine they are talking about?

  • Grace

There are too many people on here with their own signs and symptoms and Parents of kids who have reported adverse side effects and not just headaches. My daughter is one. You really don’t think there is the slightest possibility that the shots may be causing more serious problems? I feel that the shots may be getting improvements now to change the outcome and they are following some of these people’s complaints. Several different people have mentioned being diagnosed with Lupus. I find this to be very disturbing and not a coincidence. At the very least, more public studies should be done. I don’t know how at this point the studies could be totally unbiased. I wonder if there has been a study showing a spike in Lupus diagnosis. This still would not determine if it was linked to the Guardisil. No test could give a definitive result – lucky for the vaccine developers. They can continue to improve the vaccine without anyone the wiser until the side effects diminish.

  • Grace

I agree with you Kathy, I do feel this caused problems with my daughter. How are we to prove that? That is where it hurts. I believe that there is a big cover up. They are probably constantly changing and improving the vaccine without telling anyone and basing their experiments on our children. I wonder if the polio vaccine had this much or more controversy?

My 14 yr old son is now a victim to the gardasil vaccine. He had a sudden onset of transverse myelitis which caused him to go paralyzed from the neck down. He’s 100% dependent on others. He is trached and vented. He spent 3 months at primary children’s. The first month was fighting for his life. I feel this vaccine should be taken off the market. The millions they make should be given to the families who continue to fight for their children’s strength and endurance to return by traveling daily and weekly to Dr appts and therapy appts. My son’s normal healthy life was altered due to the stupid people who were willing to lie to get this killer on the market. No apology nor amount of money will give these kids their normal life back. But you could Please get this off the market and prevent more bad things from happening to innocent sweet kids.

  • Kthiede

Dr. Harper is the lead researcher of hpv and a researcher of biomedical science, not the lead developer of the vaccine. Please get your facts straight! I’m begging you to recheck your facts! This is the reason that pro vax discredit the anti vax. They always find mistakes and they are always looking for them.

I don’t understant what the MMR vaccine mention in update 2 has to do with HPV vaccine in the rest of the article. Measles Mumps and Rubella are different diseases than hpv, so information on that vaccine has nothing to do with gardasil.

I’m so sorry that your daughter was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. My daughter was also diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at a young age (15 in her case) and has been living with it ever since. It can be a devastating illness and I am hoping for better treatments and a cure down the line. However, I wanted to mention that my daughter was never given the HPV vaccine (I was very conservative with vaccines with my children) – and she developed psoriatic arthritis nonetheless. You may want to consider that while it is possible that the HPV vaccine triggered your daughter’s illness, it is also possible that she would have developed it at some point with another trigger (such as the flu), or that it would have manifested itself at the same age with or without the vaccine. The problem with seeing the kind of pattern you mention and then blaming the vaccine for the illness is that there is no “control” and so we really have no way of knowing if the vaccine caused the illness or if it was a coincidence. Unless we start to see a pattern in many many cases – not just one – there is no reason to automatically blame the vaccine.

Just to be clear, in Update #2 the author was demonstrating that “some” vaccines are legitimate, providing MMR and others as legitimate examples.

“While some vaccines are indeed essential, such as vaccines for polio and measles, the HPV vaccine is a new beast entirely.”

What is it about contrasting and balanced information that bothers you most?

  • hollyhouse

I have refused this vaccine as well as a few others on behalf of my daughter and son. I have done my homework on it and I know what we have taught our children and I know my kids. Our pediatrician snorted in derision when we declined this as well as other vaccines on a basis of a different value system and a belief in not introducing harmful chemicals when behavior can make a 100% difference. Nothing like feeling like an adversary to your health care provider. She is no longer that for us as the 1st point of importance for us is that said person needs to respect our decisions. Not all teenagers are having sex with everyone and many aren’t having sex with anyone!!! We should be applauding these young adults for such grown up decisions … But I guess most adults don’t have this much respect for others or themselves .. If it itches ,scratch it you silly fool, who can help it.

This article, originally penned by a wannabe writer named Sarah Cain is a bunch of nonsense. It is full of misinformation, and in the long run can cause great embarrassment to those who question the safety of this vaccine. I am the newspaper reporter that Diane Harper initially made the sleep comment to, in an interview I did with her in March 2007, and then it was in a totally different context with different wording. In the article Cain wrote, she took/plagiarized snippets of news articles that had been published over the years by various writers in an attempt to make her work look “new.

In reality, Diane Harper’s REAL comment on sleeping at night was made in March 2007, when I interviewed her for KPC Media Group in NE Indiana. In the interview, she called the HPV vaccine “a big public health experiment,” so I asked her why she would risk so much by claiming that. And her response was, “Because when I go to bed tonight I want to be able to sleep with myself.” AND THEN SHE ADDED , “IT’S STILL A GOOD VACCINE, but don’t over-promise.” That statement is not what you would call a condemnation of the vaccine, let alone “coming clean” about it.

But ever since, so-called “reporters” like Sarah Cain and so-called news sites that don’t do their homework have been repeating Cain’s made-up version of my story.

I also was the journalist moderator at the 2009 NVIC vaccine conference, and I assure you that Diane Harper said absolutely ZERO about sleeping at night at that conference. Her presentation was incredibly clear and informational, and it was something that every single person even remotely connected with this vaccine should have heard, whether you are medical professionals or victims of the vaccine’s side effects. It was impeccably done and has been sadly misreported around the world. Because she was so clear and honest about what this vaccine can and cannot do, it is not surprising that someone would have come away from the conference thinking she was not supporting it.

But still, she absolutely NEVER said anything about sleeping at night or clearing conscience or coming clean at that conference. I also happen to have the entire PowerPoint presentation that Dr. Harper gave that day to refer to, lest you think that I may have forgotten what she really did say that day.

So please, pleasestop publishing the nonsensical invented version of what Dr. Harper presented that day. — Cindy Bevington

  • Voter

No it doesn’t mean hysterectomy in all cases. There are a variety of treatments for HPV infection and CIN I and II, including cryosurgery (freezing of the dyslpasia cells).

  • Sam Harris

Dr. Harper never ever said any of this garbage what a load of crock. HPV does clear itself but it also causes sterility in women when it clears itself up. It’s not the vaccine I am talking about but the Virus itself. So rethink what is worse having this virus or having the vaccine because the vaccine doesn’t cause sterility but the human papillomavirus will. Men to give it to their female partners and most don’t even know they have it so it’s recommended that the vaccine be given to men as well. I have had the vaccine 6 years ago and never did I have issues of being sick once. It’s totally a person’s choice to have it or not but feeding this nonsense is ridiculous and ignorant. I studied epidemiology with public health and boy did I learn about how bad these diseases can be for people.
