A sect of GhostSec known as Ghost Security Group, an offshoot of Anonymous that many members have claimed are actually Feds, is reporting that ISIS isn’t just funding itself with black market oil from Syria, but via multi-million-dollar bitcoin wallets.

Via Techworm:

DW (Deutsche Welle) previously reported that the Islamic State is experimenting with currency, specifically gold and bitcoin. One bitcoin wallet received around $23 million in a month; anti-ISIS hackers from GhostSec followed a chain of transactions to another wallet with over $3 million in bitcoins.

Ghost Security Group confirmed to NewsBTC that ISIS is “extensively using bitcoin for funding their operations” and that the group has “managed to uncover several bitcoin addresses used by them.” Furthermore, bitcoin is “their prime form of cryptocurrency.” No evidence was given, such as the bitcoin wallet address, as the hackers “cannot go into more detail at the moment on current investigations.”

NewsBTC interviewed a member of GSG who, after discussing how the group is currently collecting evidence for the U.S. government following the Paris attacks, said, “Most of the evidence we have seen thus far indicates that BtC is [ISIS’] prime form of cryptocurrency. It is currently unknown if they have the capability to mine Bitcoin but they do receive donations on a regular basis.”

Then again, even ISIS members have admitted to being funded via U.S. government funds transfer, so…

Couldn’t you see this situation being used by the centralized banking cartel as a reason to call for the shutdown of “dangerous” cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin? How easily terrorists can be funded via anonymous donations hidden on the deep web?

In the wake of the Paris attacks, Anonymous declared a war on ISIS. Today the hacktivist collective claims it has disabled more than 6,000 ISIS Twitter accounts.

Yep, no one is supposed to use money that isn’t controlled by the money-changers; and now, everyone who does will be painted as a “terrist”

  • RandyJ/ProudSurvivor

Oh look-they’ve found a new way to demonize alternative currency!

    • Jeffersonian

Exactly! This is just the dumbest shiiit I’ve heard since they claimed ISIS was setting up a gold-backed currency!

  • “ISIS” may be sitting on Ross Ulbricht’s bitcoins but that’s about it. Guess what, feds? They buy drugs and guns with FRNs too!

    • arahn

It’s weird but even though I’ve never met you or Ross you always make me think of him 😛

      • I have better OPSEC just for using disqus than he used to run silk road, lol! He was on stack overflow asking for help with his underground marketplace and he was using a gmail account that was his real name in his profile! If he was doing things like that then that guy was in way over his head.

        • arahn

I understand though. A lot of times when I do something kind of off the cusp I never know how far it will go. Going into it you kinda think it won’t amount to much and especially of you don’t know about secure protocols you may not do anything about security and then it goes Napster on you and before you know it a bunch of “officials” are taking all your money and locking you away. Ross may not of known how big his silk road would become and when it took-off it was too late for security measures.

          • Running a marketplace takes a TEAM and a lot of experience. I wish I was at that level. I can write code and make a great site but the darknet hosting, security protocols, bitcoin mixer and wallets/accounts, location changes, server encryption, signal encryption/obfuscation(pirate/stolen/hacked signal perhaps), pen testing, intrusion prevention, let alone the site administration/tech support, dispute resolution teams, forum moderators, etc… Lots of talent at play there working in concert with all of those moving pieces. Anybody that tries to go at it alone gets in way over their heads, it’s more popular than porn.

          Ross Ulbricht was framed.

          • Framed or not he shouldn’t have been asking for help on SE using his REAL name.

          • Razedbywolvs

It’s a smoking gun. That sounds like a prosecuting attorneys wet dream.
I have watched tutorials and that is the first thing everyone tells you not to do. It’s the first on the list in every tutorial.
I’m not in the in crowed, but how many times do you see people making that mistake?

          • I’m never intercepting network traffic so I don’t know how they’re connecting but screwing up something like that is an easy mistake, one should organize themselves in such a way that you can’t screw up so you don’t accidentally do something stupid, everyone makes mistakes, one should plan for mitigating those mistakes.

Maybe the story is bunk, I have no faith in much of what I read so it wouldn’t surprise me.

Damn it. No need to bring any negative light to bitcoin. I like bitcoin. Hell, it’s how I send donations to Rand Paul. Why can’t they fund their operations with US dollars, like the CIA does.

    • Michael Hill

      Funds from Clinton Foundation.

    • Harry Angstrom

why is RP still collecting money?… send it to me

  • Michael Hill

NWO IMF Banks don’t like Bitcoins, it hurts their income!

  • Harry Angstrom

Federal Reserve hates competition … while they are a clearing house for Nations buying oil from ISIS

  • funkenstein

Wait they are using coin for finance? What’s next, using air to breathe?

  • NonYo Business

When our government stops using our tax dollars to ship drugs worldwide to fund their own terrorism, Ill give two Sh!ts about bitcoins.

  • desertspeaks

if there were that amount of money rolling through bitcoin, the value would see a large rise in value.. that isn’t happening so this is yet ANOTHER LIE !

  • Razedbywolvs

Why would anyone waste there time and resources disabling twitter accounts? Has Anonymous not herd of the the Streisand effect.

  • Brony Pony

All lies based on 0 evidence….
ISIS mainly uses USD / Gold that or they print their own paper crap… in France they used the Euro should we ban that???

Based on 0 evidence your reporting, I blame this on Coindesk a corrupted news site that doesn’t fact check.

Where is the Evidence ??? because I have real evidence they use Gold, USD, and the Euro.

  • Brony Pony

And also even if they did use Bitcoin who gives a fuck, should we ban sweats if they start paying their people in that?? how about the USD surely needs banning??? no? how about Gold and Oil ISIS also uses that… shit did you know that ISIS uses Petrol in their cars / vans ??? guess we should ban Petrol and just go back to the stone age… but wait ISIS now using sticks and stones?? burn all trees ban all rocks lol…. This is just stupidity and the EU shouldn’t even of took notice.

  • Jeffersonian

Who dreams up this BS propaganda for NATO/aka US? Obviously a NSA Contractor that believes everyone is dumber than a doorknob!

  • RandallFlagg

Hillary is coming and it’s no joke, you’re going to be in grave danger soon.
Don’t wait until it’s too late. Unregistered unknown to the government protection is a must and a good investment. Need protection but don’t want the F.B.I. digging into your past and don;t want a registered firearm in your name?
THE ANSWER IS THIS: A Black Powder Revolver and a Conversion Cylinder to accept modern ammunition!
