Former SEALS Rip Obama: Attacks A Global Catastrophe, Not Bumps In The Road

Barack Obama is coming under a massive assault from former Navy SEALS in regards to his recent statements about the turmoil, attacks, and deaths in the Middle East, including the deaths of two former Nayy SEALS, as “bumps in the road.”

Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty, both retired Navy SEALS with distinguished careers, were two of those among the dead when the U.S. consulate was attacked on September 11, 2012. Both men were providing security to Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was also killed in the attacks, via the private security firm they worked for.

Former SEAL and current Montana State Senator Ryan Zinke issued the following statement as His super PAC website, Special Operations for America (SOFA):

The President refuses to admit that his policy of appeasement and apology has failed. The murder of our Ambassador and two former Navy SEALs is more than a “bump in the road,” it is a global catastrophe where America is seen as being weak and vulnerable by our enemies. This President has failed to establish a red line for Iran’s nuclear ambitions and has failed to recognize the scale and implications of the attacks against us. Reagan had it right: don’t negotiate with terrorists and recognize the clear and present danger of not being willing to act or lead from the front.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney tried to cover for his boss and claimed that the country misunderstood what Obama meant and that his statements are out of context, sort of like how they tried to say the same thing about “you didn’t build that.”

“The President was making clear that in this historic transformation that’s taking place in the region that progress won’t come in a straight line, that there will be challenges.”

“This transformation will not happen overnight and we will certainly encounter challenges.”

“The President as you know is not minimizing what we recognize as historic transformations taking place and the President is certainly not minimizing the challenges.”

‘That assertion (of Obama referring to the murders of Americans as ‘bumps in the road’) is both desperate and offensive.”

“There is a certain desperate attempt to grasp at words for political advantage here and once again, that’s offensive.”

Joel Pollack at Breitbart.com writes,

Beyond the political debate, however, Navy SEALs are also a close-knit brotherhood, and do not take kindly to disrespect when lives are lost. President Obama’s “bumps in the road” comment is particularly chafing because of the credit he has taken for the success of the SEALs in the raid against Osama bin Laden.

They are heroes when they return, and heroes when they fall–not just when it is politically convenient for those in power.
