Off topic, but important. Fukushima is far from over.
I made this chart, yes the Nuke Pro made it. Several other blogs have copied it nearly verbatim, and I am happy that others want to spread actionable information to protect people (would have been nice to get a proper credit though). I had the chart translated to Japanese as i was sending a Geiger to Japan to help families address their real risk. See bottom for the Japanese version.
This is a super condensed table on how to interpret Geiger Readings. Use it to supplement your own research and getting a “block of knowledge”.
If you take this radiation stuff at all seriously, then get a Geiger. All the rest is guesswork.

I hear your message and understand the concern but only can say this … what good is the geiger counter to the average person in the US? We cant stop the radiation. We cant hide from it. We cant even slow it down. Its coming, its here, its harm is already happening. Looking at a meter and saying, “yup…we got radiation” will not help if its all around us.
Make a big difference if you know….if you got a hot rain, you stay out of that rain for sure.
If you got 5mSv, you shelter in place, and you don’t go out, you crap in the same room, etc.
Knowledge is valuable. Takes a while develop skill also….so get a geiger before the next event happens.
