The executive editor of the left-wing news and commentary site AlterNet, Don Hazen, has been placed on “indefinite leave” after five women accused him of sexual harassment.

Buzzfeed first received the news after reporters asked AlterNet’s parent organization about “accusations he inappropriately touched employees, sent lewd emails, and showed them explicit photographs,” according to their report.

Hazen denied the allegations in a statement: “I deny most of allegations as have been presented to me by Buzzfeed, and I believe others have been mischaracterized.”

A veteran member of liberal media, Hazen once served as publisher of Mother Jones magazine. AlterNet is dedicated to reporting on “the environment, human rights and civil liberties, social justice, media, and health care issues.”

The specific accusations, according to Buzzfeed, include “touching [women] inappropriately, discussing their sex lives, making unwanted advances, sending explicit emails, and showing them explicit photographs — including one of his naked, erect penis.”

When presented with these accusations, the board of the Independent Media Institute, a nonprofit which owns AlterNet, issued a statement saying it took the allegations “extremely seriously.”

“The Board of Directors of the Independent Media Institute takes these allegations extremely seriously,” the statement reads. “The organization has long been committed to maintaining a safe and equitable workplace. We have a grievance process outlined in the organization’s employee handbook; any complaints involving the executive director would go to the board chair, and no employee has initiated that process. We are now investigating the allegations in detail; in the meantime, executive director Don Hazen has been placed on indefinite leave, effective immediately.”

Hazen took some responsibility for his actions in an interview with Buzzfeed, saying he “lost track of some boundaries I needed to keep.”

AlterNet has long been considered a top outlet for liberal commentary, publishing columns and blogs by individuals like Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Hazen deserves what he gets.

The problem is that its just not women that have no empathy for men, its men as well that have no empathy for men. And by exploiting this, the people pushing this dark agenda win as there is no resistance. This agenda is an attack on all men. If they are targeting liberal powerful men, then the people pushing it are making it clear that the old normal isnt coming back.

I don’t think that men who do this kind of thing are deserving of empathy. Sad thing is is that yes, there more than likely is an agenda, and that stinks, but it doesn’t mean that men should get away with behaving in this manner.

As far as the old normal coming back – which one do you mean?

With nothing but allegations. . . how do you know that the men actually did anything?

A person can say whatever they like – proving it is another matter entirely.

I can “allege” that you tickled my winky. . . get you fired and excoriated on social media. . .
Doesn’t mean you actually did anything.

So how is it that that many females have allegations only? No. I am sure that there may be some that are unfounded, but to try and say that men in the good ole boys clubs like Hollyweird and capital hill don’t do this stuff is naive at best and clueless at worst.

I never said it doesn’t happen.

This is what the shitlib left counts on and it’s why allegations of sexual misconduct are one of their most-used weapons. They believe that intentions outweigh results, so is it any wonder that they would believe that allegations outrank actual evidence?
Like all good little pinhead Commies they believe that the end always justifies the means.

When is some”journalist” going to get on the sexual exploitation of young college females who are awestruck by the mindless prattle of left wing professors, who then take advantage.

The FauxNoozBreaks on local AM radio this morning were all about 48 ELEMENTARY school teachers&staff in town that were ‘reprimanded’ for several infarctions over the course of this past school year, the most numerous one being “improper contact w/ students” (their words)….Did I mention this was GRADE-school-level??
