Crime scene do not cross.

A mother fatally shot a man who was trying to break into her Indianapolis home on Wednesday.

The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, heard someone breaking into her apartment. She was home with her three children and one other child – all under the age of seven – when the incident occurred.

She came face to face with the armed suspect, identified as 19-year-old Michael Hawkins, before she opened fire, reports Fox 59.

This is the second time in a week that an Indianapolis parent has been forced to shoot a home intruder. On Tuesday a father shot an 18-year-old suspect during a home invasion on the city’s northeast side. Investigators said that 18-year-old Derrick Johnson Jr., was pronounced dead on the scene after trying to enter the residence.

“It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we live in Indiana and it’s legal for people to have guns to protect themselves,” said IMPD officer Aaron Hamer.

Area residents say they hope criminals will think twice before breaking into other people’s homes.

Indiana the first state to issue concealed carry license and first state to issue lifetime carry license. Castle doctrine in effect here also. Just another reason to love Indiana.

    • I have to assume you are a “hunter of Zionists” and not a “Zionist who is a hunter”.
      Correct?

Citizens demonstrating the value of “a well-regulated militia” through responsible gun ownership to exercise their right to self defense and contributing to the maintenance of law-abiding civil society. Without the inalienable Right to self defense, facilitated through the lawful ownership and use of a firearm, these folks and their families and their city would have been VICTIMS of criminal reprobates that have no sense of social conscience or responsibility. The world is safer with these justified deaths.

“You have to defend yourself. We have laws for that.” Yes, we do…it’s called the United States Constitution, Amendment 2.

  • Aaron Cohn

This is Darwinian natural selection. The intruder is dead because he was stupid and I thank god he won’t be polluting the gene pool. “unfortunate”? NO!!!

I guess the peace officer who uttered the stupid comments in the article missed the point the intruder was armed. I thank god Indiana has laws that will at least not turn the peoples’ homes into “gun free crime zones” were the victims have been disarmed for the convenience of the criminals.

“It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we
live in Indiana and it’s legal for people to have guns to protect
themselves,” said IMPD officer Aaron Hamer. What is disheartening about it? Someone is trying to break into another person’s home and may want to do more than rob them? I applaud the woman for first, owning a gun, knowing how to use a gun, and not being afraid to use one when forced to. As for the intruders, they got what they deserved.

I love it when homeowners kill burglars! Makes my day!

Its “disheartening” that a woman and children are traumatized by the actions of a Criminal. Thank god she got a good shot away and her and the children suffered no physical injuries.

  • It is not Paranoia

    I see no problem.

Feel good story of the week.

  • no, they would rather arrest said criminal later for multiple felonies, boosting their cred when it comes promotion time.
A dead perp someone else shot does not help them in any way.

  • ““It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we live in Indiana and it’s legal for people to have guns to protect themselves,” said IMPD officer Aaron Hamer.”

    should read:

“It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we live in Indiana and we cops don’t seem to be able to do much to prevent the burglaries, just show up half an hour later to take the report, so its not terribly surprising.”

  • anonQ

Hooray that 2 burglars are shot! This needs to happen more often since the cops seem to be unable to keep many communities safe. The statement saying LE doesn’t like to see burglars shot shows how worthless LE has become. I say shoot them twice for good measure!!! All law abiding citizens should have a gun and children should be taught to use them in school.

  • OldPoorRichard

Heroes vs predators. The question is, how did our society breed these predators?

  • OldPoorRichard

“It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death” cop says. But just when it’s the perp that dies. Not disheartening when innocent dwellers inside the home are killed by burglars, just bad luck I guess?

You dumb ass commenters are pathetic excuses for human beings. Bunch of subhuman dimwits. If any of you ever have an emergency and need to call 911 for yourself or your loved ones, DON’T, call someone else, call one of your dumb ass buddies. We sure don’t want the police helping you or the ones you love, now do we? You are massively unintelligent and a disgrace to the human race. Liberal assholes.
