Lake County Florida Sheriff’s deputies were looking for an attempted murder suspect when they approached the wrong house. With guns drawn they entered through an open door of the residence where 26 year old Andrew Scott was waiting with weapon in hand. Reports indicate that the deputies failed to identify themselves as police officers, which is likely the reason for why Scott had his gun at the ready.
Scott was subsequently shot to death by police in his own doorway.
A spokesperson for the county responded to reporter questions about the shooting:
“The bottom line is if you point a gun at police officers or deputies you’re going to get shot.”
The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. No charges have been filed against the deputies.
Standing your ground in your home is pretty hard to deny.
Just because the man left his door open is no initation to come on in.
If florida does not like the law jeb passed they.can always repeal it.
In Florida, I can see someone in my yard and shoot him if I feel threatened, Florida is very gun friendly. Well, except Zimmerman, but he wasn’t on his property.
The police act without concern of prosecution, they should be fired, tried and convicted of manslaughter at the least. It is easy to say but police beware other citizens will shoot and if were on the jury they would go free. The police need to understand we have rights no matter what they are taught at the academy that we are the enemy we are not until stuff like this happens.
Lake County where?
Mike
Florida, so it says in the first line.
Bottom line is your LOCK YOUR DAMN DOOR.
If it is florida that is a stand your ground state.
Yeah, I’m sure George Zimmerman could tell you all about the “stand your ground” state.
The swine would do best to realize that – in a firefight – bullets fly *both* ways…!

The bottom line is that citizens need to start shooting first.
