Democrat Bill Requires Anger Management Course For Ammunition Purchases

Florida State Senator Audrey Gibson (D-Jacksonville) introduced legislation on Saturday that would require a three day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition for anyone who has not completed an anger management course first.

Critics of Gibson say she is the “latest example of local lawmakers reaching for constitutionally-dubious solutions to the problem of gun violence.” I say she is violating her oath of office and is committing treason by such actions.

“This is not about guns,” Gibson said. “This is about ammunition and not only for the safety of the general community, but also for the safety of law enforcement.”

She claims to be concerned about citizens stockpiling ammunition, which she considers to be potentially dangerous should they come in contact with law enforcement agencies or criminals. To that I say, yes it would be dangerous for the criminal and for good reason. As for law enforcement, that would only be an issue if law enforcement were attempting to break the law at the expense of the gun owner.

“It’s about getting people to think, really, about how much ammunition they need,” Gibson said. “It’s a step, I think, in a safer direction. It’s about getting people to think before they buy.”

Fox News reports,

Gibson’s bill does not offer a threshold for the amount of ammunition needed to necessitate the need for anger management courses.

“It is unlawful to: A) Sell ammunition to another person who does not present certification that he or she has successfully completed an anger-management program consisting of at least 2 hours of online or face-to-face instruction in anger-management techniques,” the bill reads. “The certification must be renewed every 10 years. B) Purchase or otherwise obtain ammunition by fraud, false pretense, or false representation.”

Those in violation of the bill, if passed, would face a second-degree misdemeanor charge. Anyone found in violation a second time within a year of a prior conviction would face a first-degree misdemeanor charge.

While Gibson claims that her legislation is not “accusatory” toward gun and ammunition owners and that she is just out to protect her community, that’s not how the executive director of Florida Carry, Sean Caranna, said, “When I first saw it, I thought it had to be a joke. They’re trying to say that anyone who owns a gun or shoots a gun or has ammunition for it needs counseling and obviously has some anger problems.”

“We’ve got a lot of issues that should be the focus of these bill slots with limited filing, but instead we put in something as ridiculous as this,” he said. “I don’t see a planet where this passes. This is an attempt to grab attention – it has to be. And that’s really disappointing.”

Jon Gutmacher, an Orlando attorney and author said he expects the bill to be found unconstitutional. “It has no reasonable relationship to anything,” he said. “There has to be a reasonable basis to believe that a person had a substantial anger problem that could cause public harm.”

“It’s absurd on its face,” he continued. “And anyone who proposes that legislation is in my mind unfit for the legislature because it shows a basic problem with their thinking process, aside from their lack of understanding of what the Constitution is all about. That’s the kind of bill that doesn’t even get past committee.”

When are we going to put an end to this mess and start removing these people from office and charging them with violating their oath of office? When are we going to hold them accountable for their actions? As Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Do not allow evil to triumph. Do not do sit by and do nothing.”

We need good men to do something and not just something, but to stand up and confront these people on their errors and push back against the mounting tyranny we are seeing at the Federal and local level.

stupid b#$%^ is pissin me off…

personally, i would double check to see if the broad has some connection to the website that would give these anger management classes. When the bankruptcy laws took effect and demanded people take “on-line financial management classes,” it was a HUGE windfall for the folks who run those sites. Even if this woman charged $40-50 a class, if you times that by 2 million ammunition buyers…do the math…one heck of a business.

  • Lutz

Why stop there you dumb liberal. How about the same requirement for purchasing a vehicle, or anything else that can kill a human being.

This is nothing more than another liberal’s feeble assault on the second amendment.

  • Fido

Think about it for a moment, in all likelihood some sort of bill restricting gun purchases for those with mental issues may pass into law. Now you have to have anger management classes to buy ammo. Now you have a certificate showing you had to have an anger management counseling session and so the Fed will determine you unfit to buy a gun.

    • GrandpaSpeaks

Darn right Fido. Pandoras constitutional restraints are off the box, and it is opening. We should have made the Constitution untouchable.

      • mlr

We did make the constitution untouchable Grandpa, but when the politicians began their assault on it almost immediately, Americans didnt stand up to vote the rascals out. They have no reason to or fear of not obeying the Constituion. Now youre put on a drone list if you believe in the Constitution and considered a terrorist by the very people who should be following it. The only answer is to vote them out, but now they have over half the people dumbed down, on the dole, and thoroughly indoctrinated into whatever Jon Stewart or SNL touts as “in”, there is little hope left. Sorry, I think the war against the NWO was lost a long time ago.

mlr, the solution to our problems is now out of the ballot box and into the ammo box.

A good idea, Diane Fienstien (or wtf ever) just said it is legal to hunt human beings with high cap magazines and we have a LOT of politicians (human substitutes) to hunt in the near future.

Just another gun grab from fascist fanatics. Complete the course ? then they raise the bar to make completion impossible.

This cuckoo bird is a state senator? Her picture should be on the front of a box of “Cocoa Puffs”.

Better would be for her picture to be on a milk carton or in an obituary notice.

People are finally thinking. They is why they are purchasing fire arms and ammunition. Some have seen the writing on the wall.

  • RickE.

DO NOT comply with ANY of these unconstitutional anti gun “laws”. (proposed or passed). Just say NO to tyranny!
Not only do I have several guns, but I have decided to get some of the silent weapons as well. An accurate archer is formidable indeed!!

    • Since you’ve finally decided to take a stand, don’t forget to say no to government surveillance, no to TSA sexual molestation & no to all other forms of government control & oppression that are the ones really killing this country and its dumb down society. The guns are nothing but a distraction…unless, of course, all those of you who 19 or 30 of them decide to put your mouth where you bullets are and do something about it. But I doubt it. After all, you don’t have what it takes it to fight for your rights. You only know how to kill others that have something you want or who try to stop you from taking it.

  • Mr green genes

I can just see it now , Ah yes mam i just want that box of 30-30 to go hunting , ah no mam I am not angry , and have had no prior run ins with the deer , i just need to shoot one so my family can have some food for the long winter

  • Larry Peterson

And exactly what part of “shall not be infringed” does this wacko not understand?

  • Hey, just think. You can always hide your guns and ammo in yo woman’s uterus, after all a woman’s body is protected and own by that small government y’all Libertarians/Teabaggers/Wing Nuts want & are trying so hard to implement by whatever the means.

Stoopid Amerikan…It has become obvious to me that you are of foreign origin because in the manner which you speak(type). Lucky for you this country has a 1st Amendment and there is no stipulations of inteligence to have that right here.

  • Scott Scott

The topic of guns has actually been an eye-opening experience for me. I am truly amazed how many ignorant people we have voted into office across the entire country. “We the People” need to fix this ourselves by voting out these poor representatives of our rights as Americans.

    • SKIP

Scott, as said before by me and others, the solution is now beyond the ballot box as votes make no difference, the solution is now in the ammo box.

This reminds me of what democrats (the name should be changed to communists for the sake of honesty) are doing in the Colorado legislature.

I just watched Senator Mary Hodge’s self-righteous, arrogant, sanctimonious lies about the gun control bills. She celebrated driving a strong business out of the state. The lies:

-The bill does not increase safety it decreases it
-She and the legislature do NOT have a right to take away our rights, legislate limits to our God-given right to self defense AND defense against govt. tyranny, she claims that the magazine manufacturer that she and the other communists are driving out of the state should respect her right…to deprive us of our RIGHTS!
-It doesn’t matter whether the manufacturing company respects “her right” to legislate or not, they are not taking away her rights (which do not include the “right” to deprive us of our rights)

In short, Hodge is a arrogant collectivist totalitarian subjugator aptly coifed in a communist/fascist butch haircut. NO, you do not have the right to take away our rights, Hodge!

She and they, may not have the right to do what they did, BUT! they DID IT and GOT AWAY WITH DOING IT.

Colorado Update: Burglars broke into the Gunsmoke Gunshop in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and stole merchandise. Now the IRS has raided the place.

The owner has been on a Discovery channel series about firearms. He has also been and outspoken opponent of the tyranny currently undertaken by mostly “Democrats” in the Colorado legislature.

I am therefore very suspicious of who the actual perpetrators of the burglary were and of the motive behind both the burglary and the IRS armed takeover of the property. The IRS has been used in the recent past as a method of punishing political opponents of extremely unscrupulous politicians. It might be happening yet again. It is too bad that constant vigilance is required in order to keep tabs on the criminal class.
