Cleveland Stocks Up On Riot Gear For Republican National Convention

As the July Republican National Convention looms, the city of Cleveland is preparing for any eventuality, including civil unrest. In exchange for hosting the convention, the city has received a $50 million federal security grant, and they haven’t wasted any time spending it on all kinds of goodies for their police departments. In fact, when you read the list of gear they’re trying to acquire, it sounds like they’re preparing for a siege rather than a political event.

That list includes 2000 sets of riot control suits, batons, and bags to carry it all in. Plus another 310 sets of riot gear that are designed for bicycle mounted cops (I bet you can’t imagine a cop riding a bicycle in full riot gear without laughing). Last week they ordered 300 bicycles, 15 motorcycles, 25 sets of tactical armor and two horse trailers. To top it all off, the city is going to rent 3 miles of 3.5 foot tall steel barriers, and 3,250 feet of 6.5 foot tall barriers.

Welcome to America, where a supposedly free and open electoral process must be accompanied with barricades and an army of stormtroopers.

Well, in Cleveland, there is bound to be a lot of Black Lives Matter agitators and maybe even some Black Panthers to be present to “persuade” (not intimidate) voters to “do the right thing.” The really funny and hilariously ignorant part is, they know the cops are going to be amped up and ready to swing a baton at their heads – and they’ll STILL put themselves in a position to invite the cops to lay a club to them…and then cry and blame the Racist Cops when they’re all bruised and broken after asking to get their asses kicked. Yet ANOTHER example of how (stereo-typically) Blacks make stupid choices and then blame others for their circumstances. The smartest thing to do is to STAY HOME and watch the whole thing on TV. Their voices will not be heard or listened to in any way, shape or form. By making a spectacle and taking a beating if necessary, they will only validate that race baiting profiteer and tax-dodge Sharpton – who will exploit them even more than they already are.

    • You are correct. And as much as I admire TheDailySheeple, I think it gets this article a bit off: the riot gear is most likely as you’ve pointed out, to protect actual participants from BLM radicals, not to suppress political speech in the truest sense. Given the history of BLM crashing Trump rallies, it’s not surprising they’ll be there; besides riot gear, there’s always at least some security detail at these things, not to mention the candidates’ personal bodyguard.

I’m not arguing we have a “free” election system by any shot, but this isn’t likely to supress Trump supporters as much as it is to prevent clashes provoked by BLM.

Ah yes. The violent left. What a shock. Not.

According the the Black Book of Communism, Oxford Univ. Press, by Courtois, et al, the left MURDERED over 100 mm last century. So why does this latest violence not surprise me?

Here the Socialist Workers’ Thugocracy of Chicago where I live, when the fascist left protested the Iraq war (funny.. they were nowhere to be found for all of Obungler’s “splendid little wars” they were incredibly violent. Yup… protesting war with violence. Only the fascist left could do that….

You say that like the “right” doesn’t want power and control of the masses as well…

  • “One thing I know: we’re never going to win through the system. Voting has never been the American way. We didn’t get away from that pansy country England by voting! We did it by throwing their stinkin’ tea in our American habor! [the crowd cheers] And why? Because Americans don’t like tea. We like coffee. And Americans don’t like wine. We like beer! Ice cold… Ice-cold-best- in-a-bottle-but-fine-anyway-you-can-get-it-belching-burping-wake-up-in-a-pool-of-it beer. So let’s show ’em how a beer man votes. Let’s get blitzed and take it to the streets….The only thing that Americans understand is mindless Tom ‘n’ Jerry cartoon-like violence! So let’s go kick some elite butt. Give me beer, or give me death! Or both. Let’s pillage.”

There’s no roll of the dice, just the illusion of choice. Your vote doesn’t matter. For that matter if all you have are option A or option B (sounds familiar…) it’s too easy to stack the deck against you. Each side is owned by the same damn people anyway, thinking one is any different from the other is silly.

I’m all for storming the Bastille but its got to wait. Its to early to spin the stormtroopers into winds that will blow them away. The peoples time will come in perfect timing and this ain’t it.

Lawyers? They’re symptoms of the disease, not the disease itself. Legal mercenaries really, and we all know mercenaries aren’t known for their moral scruples. They exist in the manner they do ONLY because we allow it and even encourage it.

If people dealt with their own problems instead of paying a lawyer to be the adult for them. The average adult in this country today is anything but and usually totally incompetent at dealing with life. We jokingly knock on younger generations “ruining” the country but what chance did they really have with the example that was set for them
