FBI agents have arrested a man believed to be planning an attack on the Federal Reserve in New York City.

The man, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, resides in Long Island, New York. He is in federal custody and is said to have acted alone.

The suspect was arrested in a joint sting operation undertaken by the FBI and the NYPD. He had been flagged on the internet 3 months ago.

Law enforcement officers stress that the public was never at risk.  When Nafis was arrested this morning he was trying to detonate what he believed to be a 1000 pound explosive device. He parked a van full of the supposed explosives at the Fed, then tried to detonate them via a cell phone call from the Millennium Hotel, across the street.
