Shortly after midnight, a male passenger made reference to a bomb in checked baggage at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

The main terminal was immediately evacuated as FBI and TSA agents, as well as local police swept the facility for explosives.  All luggage has been searched.  No bombs have been found at this point but outgoing flights still have not been released as the investigation continues, according to airport manager John Parrot. Three male suspects are still being interviewed regarding the incident.   ”We don’t know if this is a credible threat. That’s what the interviews will help us determine,” Parrott said.

Stranded passengers have been housed at the rental car facility and a secondary terminal while they await the resumption of flights.

Updated to add: the airport has reopened and flights are departing. One man is in custody over the incident. See HERE for details.
